In experiments with 60 segments of arteries and 46 segments of the umbilical cord vein of 24 newborns and 35 strips of myometrium of 12 pregnant women, the effect of 100-fold dilutions of cord blood serum (SPK-1: 100) on the contractile effects of histamine (0.01, 0.1 and 1 ϻg l ml). SPK-1: - 100 increased the vasoconstrictor and uterostimulating effects of histamine. H1-histaminosensitizing activity of SPK-1: 100 and the efficiency of activation of H1-histamine receptors of myocytes of the arteries and umbilical cord veins are increased in the presence of obstetric complications. A conclusion was made about the content of endogenous sensitizer H1-histamine receptors (ESGR) in the fetal blood, the level of which increases in the presence of obstetric complications, as well as the possible role of histamine and ESGR in the regulation of fetoplacental blood circulation in conditions of normal and pathological conditions.

Abstract Neonatal sepsis is an important cause of neonatal deaths globally. Diagnosis of neonatal sepsis is established based on microbiological tests of sepsis screen and clinical status. Mid phase markers of inflammation like CRP & Serum Procalcitonin are considered useful and sensitive for diagnosis. Most of the studies evaluating serum PCT as a diagnostic marker for neonatal septicemia have been carried out in peripheral venous blood with smaller sample sizes with inclusion of neonates without considering perinatal sepsis score. This hospital based, prospective study compares the diagnostic utility of cord blood Procalcitonin (PCT) with venous blood PCT; alone and as part of sepsis screening parameters currently in use in perinatal sepsis score positive neonates. Statistical analysis for cord blood Serum Procalcitonin (PCT) for detecting blood culture positive patients showed that PCT has a sensitivity of 44.4%, a high specificity of 86.4%, a low PPV of 33.3% and a high NPV of 91.1%. Overall diagnostic accuracy is 80.9%, indicating that cord blood PCT is a good test for identifying these patients (p < 0.05). However, venous blood PCT failed to demonstrate similar results. Conclusions- Umbilical blood sampling protects the neonates from pain of venipunctures. Cord blood PCT estimations have statistically significant correlation with blood culture and other sepsis screen parameters and better sensitivity and specificity than venous blood PCT. This early serological biomarker is valuable for the diagnostic armamentarium of neonatal septicemia for early diagnosis and management while awaiting blood culture reports and helps in reducing separation of probable sepsis neonates from mother, thus contributing in developmental supportive care.

The paper considers the possibilities of using in medical practice various cryomethods and techniques of cryopreservation of biological objects to treat the patients with purulent chronic wounds (PCW). The variety of methods and approaches to apply cold in medical practice: general and local cryotherapy, cryosurgery etc. has been emphasized. As a result of using each of these methods, regenerative processes begin, which promote the healing of PCW. Particular attention is paid to cryotechniques, ensuring the preservation of cord blood at low temperatures. Cord blood cells and serum have been shown to have immune modulatory and trophic-stimulating therapeutic effects, that is extremely important when treating the patients with PCW. The issue of combined use of cord blood serum and innovative vacuum therapy for the patients with PCW has been considered.

The results of the study of the effect of cord blood serum and “Actovegin” (Takeda, Ukraine) on the reproductive function of cows in a comparative aspect are presented. The aim of the study was to analyze the effect of cord blood serum and Actovegin on the reproductive function of uterine cows in a comparative aspect. Materials and methods. The research was conducted during 2017-2020 in four dairy farms of Sumy region with tethered and untied maintenance. In 128 cows of different breeds and productivity, the timing of sexual cycling was studied and analyzed in comparison with the spontaneous sexual cycle with the use of cord blood serum and the drug "Actovegin" (Takeda, Ukraine). Results. It was found that in cows with tethered content, the number of days from the introduction of 15 ml of cord blood serum to the manifestation of the excitation stage was significantly less compared to the spontaneous manifestation of sexual desire (5.63±0.36 and 14.38±2.1, respectively). When cows with loose content were administered 10 ml of cord blood serum in combination with the drug "Actovegin", the number of days before the manifestation of sexual cycling was lower by 18.3 % compared with the rate of spontaneous sexual desire (4.31±0.38 and 18.25±1.89, respectively). Conclusions. As a result of using 10 ml of cord blood serum in combination with the drug "Actovegin", in cows of different productivity and under different housing conditions, the number of days before the onset of the stage of arousal is significantly reduced compared to the spontaneous manifestation of sexual desire. Cows of different productivity and with different housing conditions come to the sexual desire significantly faster with the use of 15 ml of cord blood serum compared to the spontaneous manifestation of sexual desire.

Application of mediators directly to the injured site to promote de novo tissue can be the most promising strategy in regenerative medicine. However, understanding the mechanism of regional application of proteins /growth factors is challenging. Likewise, the proteins from Human Umbilical Cord Blood Serum(hUCBS) remain inadequately understood in terms of its therapeutic use. Several biological processes of the components in hUCBS remains unanswered. Human umbilical cord blood was collected in vacutainer tubes from 35 healthy mothers.hUCBS was obtained after centrifuge -4oC at 10,000 rpm for 20minutes. After the removal of high abundant proteins, proteomic profiling of UCBS was done by Mass Spectrometry. The Mascot search engine was used for peptide sequence identification. Proteins identified were assessed for tissue expression, cellular components, and biological functions based on Gene Ontology (GO) analyses. A total of 99 proteins were detected. The tissue expression information of proteins obtained included the Stomach, Liver, Heart, Lungs. Around 91 proteins were expressed in embryo organs. Proteins in hUBCS reflect the physiological status of the fetus/pregnancy. Major proteins found in hUCBS were expressed in the embryo, indicating that proteins were involved in organ development. Data contributed to a better understanding of the protein functions present in hUCBS.

A few biomedical applications of Human umbilical cord blood serum used for the treatment of blood disorders and ocular therapy have been documented. Umbilical cords are relatively free of bacterial and viral contamination and often discarded after birth. Previous studies on human umbilical cord blood serum have certain factors exhibiting a distinctive differentiation potential and pharmacological influence like to boost anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and wound healing property. Cord blood can be collected without pain and cryopreserved without causing any changes in the functional properties. Human umbilical cord blood serum has been increasingly used in regenerative medicine because of their ability to treat tissue injury and causing immunomodulatory properties. Human cord blood serum possesses a striking natural resemblance of nutrients required for cell/tissue engineering. Cord blood serum being allogenic in nature, makes it a favorable biomaterial over other autogenous therapies. It contains a number of proteins that are exchanged from the mother to the fetus for growth and development. These exclusive proteins may perhaps participate in the modulation of cell proliferation and differentiation along with accelerated migration of keratinocyte at the wound edge with the generation of the intact epithelium. In the present study, umbilical cord blood serum was obtained from 35 patients and was subjected toMass Spectrometry. A total of 99 proteins were identified in the sample. Functions of proteins were analyzed using the Uniprot database. Thus, understanding the protein functions could give us insight into the regenerative properties of umbilical cord blood serum.
