Abstract. The Sidi Moussa lagoon, (32°52′0″ N / 8° 51′05″ W) is located on the Moroccan Atlantic coast between the cities of El Jadida and Safi about 15 km South of the Jorf Lasfar industrial complex, The climate of the lagoon is classified as hot temperate. It is characterised by an oceanic influence. This study of dinoflagellate cyst mapping is the first of its kind from the Sidi Moussa lagoon. the objectives of the present survey were (i) to evaluate to the spatial variation of dinoflagellate cyst assemblages in the sediment along the Sidi Moussa lagoon (ii) to assess the densities of its cysts (iii) to compare the cyst assemblages in this study with that of other sites. The data were collected in a scientific campaign by zodiac carried out from in April 2018 by core following a sampling network of 21 stations distributed randomly in the study area. The surface layer of the sediment cores (3 cm) was sliced and kept at 4° C until analysis. The highest total cyst abundance was 194 cysts. g−1 dry sediment. The Pearson statistical test revealed a positive and significant correlation between cyst abundance and water content, organic matter and of fine sediment. Our study showed the presence of morphotypes of potentially toxic species. The cysts of these species present in the sediment of the Sidi Moussa lagoon could germinate, when environmental conditions become favorable, and in turn could inoculate the water column with the subsequent bloom formation. This study confirms the usefulness of cyst analysis in the assessment of harmful bloom risk in this area important for oyster’s culture.

Abstract: In most cases, sketch images simply show basic profile details and do not include facial detail. As a result, precisely generating facial features is difficult. Using the created adversarial network and attributes, we propose an image translation network. A feature extracting network and a down-sampling up-sampling network make up the generator network. There is a generator and a discriminator in GANs. The Generator creates fake data samples (images, audio, etc.) in intended to mislead the Discriminator. On the other hand, the Discriminator attempts to distinguish between the real and fake sample Keywords: Deep Learning, Generative Adversarial Networks, Image Translation, face generation, skip-connection.

Abstract. Atmospheric non-methane hydrocarbons (NMHCs) play an important role in the formation of secondary organic aerosols and ozone. After a multidecadal global decline in atmospheric mole fractions of ethane and propane – the most abundant atmospheric NMHCs – previous work has shown a reversal of this trend with increasing atmospheric abundances from 2009 to 2015 in the Northern Hemisphere. These concentration increases were attributed to the unprecedented growth in oil and natural gas (O&NG) production in North America. Here, we supplement this trend analysis building on the long-term (2008–2010; 2012–2020) high-resolution (∼3 h) record of ambient air C2–C7 NMHCs from in situ measurements at the Greenland Environmental Observatory at Summit station (GEOSummit, 72.58 ∘ N, 38.48 ∘ W; 3210 m above sea level). We confirm previous findings that the ethane mole fraction significantly increased by +69.0 [+47.4, +73.2; 95 % confidence interval] ppt yr−1 from January 2010 to December 2014. Subsequent measurements, however, reveal a significant decrease by −58.4 [−64.1, −48.9] ppt yr−1 from January 2015 to December 2018. A similar reversal is found for propane. The upturn observed after 2019 suggests, however, that the pause in the growth of atmospheric ethane and propane might only have been temporary. Discrete samples collected at other northern hemispheric baseline sites under the umbrella of the NOAA cooperative global air sampling network show a similar decrease in 2015–2018 and suggest a hemispheric pattern. Here, we further discuss the potential contribution of biomass burning and O&NG emissions (the main sources of ethane and propane) and conclude that O&NG activities likely played a role in these recent changes. This study highlights the crucial need for better constrained emission inventories.
