This chapter provides an overview of computational communication science (CCS) as an emerging and exemplary subfield of computational social science. Based on lessons from working group sessions with 34 experts, we address recent challenges and desiderata of CCS research while reflecting upon its future development and expansion. Four major fields of action proved particularly relevant in these discussions: First, challenges related to a reflected but integrated CCS methodology; second, challenges related to a further elaboration on the theoretical perspectives on CCS; third, challenges related to the formation and further institutionalization of CCS as fundamental basis for further scientific exchange, progress and standardization; and fourth, implications for empirical communication research, particularly highlighting the relevance of wicked problems as research incubators driving further progress.

The paper presents studies related to positive psychology that have been conducted in Poland. The article is based on a review of texts available in the databases of Google Scholar and EBSCO published by Polish researchers in the years 2001–2021. The selection criterion was the presence of some concepts in the title and/or abstract of articles that are constructs of positive psychology. Thirty intentionally selected articles were analyzed in terms of research objectives, variables, and measurement tools they described. In this way, a picture of research interests and methods of research on human and organization from the perspective of positive psychology was obtained. It seems that the main subjects of interest of Polish researchers were problems related to positive human qualities, life satisfaction, and mental well-being with a growing interest in positive society. The most common variable to study was life satisfaction, and the most frequently used measuring tool was the SWLS. It was concluded that there is a need for scientific exchange and integration within Polish researchers and the international community of positive psychologists.

Preface to the CISBAT 2021 Journal of Physics: Conference Series special issue CISBAT 2021 took place from 8 to 10 September 2021 online and at the Swiss Tech Convention Center on the campus of the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland under the heading "Carbon Neutral Buildings - Energy Efficiency & Renewables in the Digital Era". Focused on energy efficiency and the use of renewables in buildings and cities, CISBAT bi-annually offers a dynamic platform for scientific exchange in fields ranging from nanostructured materials for renewable energy applications to urban energy systems. While recent editions have seen machine learning applications for the built environment receive ever greater attention, CISBAT 2021 has further extended its reach to include research promoting circular economy, thus offering insights into a broad range of fields that ultimately have the same target: carbon-free, sustainable buildings and cities. List of Editorial Committee, Organising Committee, Programming Committee, Scientific Committee, Academic Partners, Session chairs, Invited speakers, Sponsors are available in this pdf.

Abstract. The European Geosciences Union (EGU) is one of the leading global bottom-up societies that promotes earth, planetary and space sciences. In its annual general assemblies, EGU brings together experts from all over the world to discuss cutting-edge research and implementation of findings in its respective disciplines and thus offers a unique forum for scientific exchange, science-policy interaction, and joint development of strategies for future research endeavours. This special issue in Advances in Geosciences comprises a collection of contributions from the Division Energy, Resources and the Environment (ERE) of the EGU, which were presented at the General Assembly 2021, vEGU2021: Gather online. It was held entirely online for the second time after EGU2020 from 19 to 30 April 2021.

AbstractThis position paper is intended to provide recommendations that will help lay the foundation for best practices for medical science liaisons (MSLs) and their activities. Its objective is to outline the roles and responsibilities expected of an MSL and provide clarity on the juxtaposition of MSLs and Sales representatives (SRs) when it comes to scientific exchange versus promotional messaging. It is of utmost importance that industry integrity and ethical standards are assured during external stakeholder engagement as well as medical and scientific communications. This guidance, delivered through the lens of APPA, IFAPP, MAPS and the MSLS executive committees, has been prepared primarily as a supportive resource to assist the Medical Affairs teams in the industry to develop their own set of standard operating procedures (SOPs), codes of conduct and policies within the framework of relevant industry regulations. We acknowledge that whilst there are guidelines already available that provide excellent directive to the MSL function, this paper is a review and distillation of these existing recommendations combined with the perspectives of four peak professional bodies to offer a practically focused resource to help MSLs interact, collaborate and exchange scientific information appropriately with external experts when out in the field.

Neurosurgery made a fascinating advancement in the last century. However, its historical development was somewhat slower than that of other surgical specialties due to the complexity of the central nervous system. Initial attempts to treat brain disease surgically have been related to high morbidity and mortality. Only the better understanding of brain structure and function localization and the introduction of antisepsis, anesthesia, and hemostasis at the end of the 19th century led to increased interest and rapid advancement in the field. The other development of neurosurgery was distributing the acquired knowledge and making this highly specialized care available to all patients around the world. Among all other surgical disciplines, global neurosurgery was the foundation of neurosurgical organizations around the world, and their close cooperation, few countries founded the WFNS in 1955. The first president was Jefferson, and the first WFNS congress was held in 1957 in Brussels (congress president professor A. Walder). WFNS initiated a world congress every four years to gather neurosurgeons for scientific exchange.
