A local convex space E is said to be distinguished if its strong dual Eβ′ has the topology β(E′,(Eβ′)′), i.e., if Eβ′ is barrelled. The distinguished property of the local convex space CpX of real-valued functions on a Tychonoff space X, equipped with the pointwise topology on X, has recently aroused great interest among analysts and Cp-theorists, obtaining very interesting properties and nice characterizations. For instance, it has recently been obtained that a space CpX is distinguished if and only if any function f∈RX belongs to the pointwise closure of a pointwise bounded set in CX. The extensively studied distinguished properties in the injective tensor products CpX⊗εE and in Cp(X,E) contrasts with the few distinguished properties of injective tensor products related to the dual space LpX of CpX endowed with the weak* topology, as well as to the weak* dual of Cp(X,E). To partially fill this gap, some distinguished properties in the injective tensor product space LpX⊗εE are presented and a characterization of the distinguished property of the weak* dual of Cp(X,E) for wide classes of spaces X and E is provided.

AbstractIn this paper, we introduce the notion of (q, p)-mixing operators from the injective tensor product space E ̂⊗∈F into a Banach space G which we call (q, p, F)-mixing. In particular, we extend the notion of (q, p, E)-summing operators which is a special case of (q, p, F)-mixing operators to Lipschitz case by studying their properties and showing some results for this notion.

AbstractWe generalize the notion of summable Szlenk index from a Banach space to an arbitrary weak*-compact set. We prove that a weak*-compact set has summable Szlenk index if and only if its weak*-closed, absolutely convex hull does. As a consequence, we offer a new, short proof of a result from Draga and Kochanek [J. Funct. Anal. 271 (2016), 642–671] regarding the behavior of summability of the Szlenk index under c0 direct sums. We also use this result to prove that the injective tensor product of two Banach spaces has summable Szlenk index if both spaces do, which answers a question from Draga and Kochanek [Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 145 (2017), 1685–1698]. As a final consequence of this result, we prove that a separable Banach space has summable Szlenk index if and only if it embeds into a Banach space with an asymptotic c0 finite dimensional decomposition, which generalizes a result from Odell et al. [Q. J. Math. 59, (2008), 85–122]. We also introduce an ideal norm $\mathfrak{s}$ on the class $\mathfrak{S}$ of operators with summable Szlenk index and prove that $(\mathfrak{S}, \mathfrak{s})$ is a Banach ideal. For 1 ⩽ p ⩽ ∞, we prove precise results regarding the summability of the Szlenk index of an ℓp direct sum of a collection of operators.

AbstractFor any pair M, N of von Neumann algebras such that the algebraic tensor product M ⊗ N admits more than one C*-norm, the cardinal of the set of C*-norms is at least 2ℵ0. Moreover, there is a family with cardinality 2ℵ0 of injective tensor product functors for C*-algebras in Kirchberg's sense. Let ${\mathbb B}$=∏nMn. We also show that, for any non-nuclear von Neumann algebra M⊂ ${\mathbb B}$(ℓ2), the set of C*-norms on ${\mathbb B}$ ⊗ M has cardinality equal to 22ℵ0.

We characterize thek-smooth points in some Banach spaces. We will deal with injective tensor product, the Bochner spaceL∞(μ,X)of (equivalence classes of)μ-essentially bounded measurableX-valued functions, and direct sums of Banach spaces.

AbstractLet G be a compact metrizable abelian group, and let X be a Banach space. We characterize convolution operators associated with a regular Borel X-valued measure of bounded semivariation that are compact (resp; weakly compact) from L1(G), the space of integrable functions on G into L1(G) X, the injective tensor product of L1(G) and X. Along the way we prove a Fourier Convergence theorem for vector measures of relatively compact range that are absolutely continuous with respect to the Haar measure.

AbstractIt is shown that the injective tensor product of positive vector measures in certain Banach lattices is jointly continuous with respect to the weak convergence of vector measures. This result is obtained by a diagonal convergence theorem for injective tensor integrals. Our approach to this problem is based on Bartle's bilinear integration theory.
