Abstract As most of the female inguinal hernias are of indirect type, we conducted this retrospective study to evaluate whether the single port laparoscopic percutaneous internal ring suture is feasible for the management of indirect inguinal hernia in female adults. From April 2016 to August 2019, there were 31 female adults who were diagnosed with inguinal hernias and received laparoscopic inspection at our surgical department. One patient who was finally diagnosed as an encysted hydrocele was excluded from the statistic study. All the 30 cases were of indirect type with a total of 35 single port laparoscopic percutaneous internal ring sutures performed. The median age was 38 years (range 20–88 years). The number and percentage of patients with right, left and bilateral hernias were 17 (56%), 11 (37%) and 2 (7%) respectively. Three contralateral patent processi vaginalium and 1 occult femoral hernia were found during operation. The percentages of the respective classifications according to the European Hernia Society system for the 35 PIRSs were L1: 40%, L2: 49%, and L3: 11%. The average operation time was 18 min for unilateral and 30 min for bilateral hernias. There were 1 recurrence and 1 chronic postoperative inguinal pain. Both had their symptoms and signs resolved after reoperation. The mean follow-up period was 13.6 months. We concluded that the single-port laparoscopic percutaneous internal ring suture is feasible for the management of indirect inguinal hernia in female adults.

AbstractOne of the key questions of the observational cosmology is how the environmental dependence of galaxies today formed. Proto-clusters, galaxy overdense regions at high redshift are important laboratory to study the formation history of clusters of galaxies. We perform the first statistic study of far-infrared spectral energy distribution(SED)s of proto-clusters at z ∼ 4 by the stacking analysis of Planck/ AKARI/ IRAS images of proto-clusters at z ∼ 4 selected from the Hyper Suprime-Cam Subaru Strategic Program (HSC-SSP) survey. By stacking ∼ 200 proto-clusters, we successfully constrain their average total SEDs in 60–850μm. Our results imply the excess of dusty starburst galaxies with star formation rate several 1000 M⊙yr−1 in total and obscured AGNs in proto-clusters at z ∼ 4.

AIM: This work is aimed to describe anatomical features and variants of the prostatic artery (PA) using digital subtraction angiography (DSA). METHODS: This is a descriptive statistic study. We reviewed the DSA of 348 patients, who had a PA embolisation to reduce the benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) symptoms at Radiology Department of Bach Mai Hospital from Oct – 2014 to Oct – 2018. RESULTS: PA was found at 660 pelvic halves, of which 30 pelvic halves (4.5%) had two PAs, 630 pelvic halves had one PA. In terms of the origin of PA, in total 690 PAs, the percentage of type 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 was successively 33.9%, 13.9%, 18.3%, 23.9% and 10.4%, respectively. Atherosclerosis of PA observed in 20.9%. The ‘corkscrew’ pattern was found in 30.4%. The average diameter of PA was 1.5 ± 0.34mm. The anastomosis of PA with surrounding arteries was common. PA may supply rectum (6.1%), seminal vesical (9.6%), bladder (5.2%), contralateral prostatic parenchyma (13.0%), surrounding soft-tissues (3.5%). CONCLUSION: The common trunk with SVA superior vesical artery was the most common origin of PA. Anastomoses of PA with surrounding tissues were complex.
