Decline disease has been discovered for a long time but infection is more extensively increasing. It is difficult to detect because the disease is originated from roots. Among the causes, soil fungi have been widely determined. Using fungicides is not an effective way to control the disease. In this case, biocontrol with suitable microbial strains is a potential approach. This study aims to investigate in vitro the possibility of using Trichoderma and Chaetonium to control the causing fungi. Two Chaetonium strains and 1 Trichoderma asperellum strain were isolated from diseased-root samples. Six strains of Trichoderma (isolated strains T1, T2, T3, T4, T5, T6) and three strains of Chaetonium (isolated strains C1, C2, C3) showed a reasonably antagonistic ability to Phytophthora, Fusarium, Rhizoctonia. Base on the PCR identification method, 6 strains of Trichoderma was isolated belonging to Trichoderma asperellum species, and 3 strains of Chaetonium belonging to 2 species Chaetomium globosum and Chaetomium cichlids.

Date palm orchards suffer from serious diseases, including sudden decline syndrome (SDS). External symptoms were characterized by whitening on one side of the rachis, progressing from the base to the apex of the leaf until the whole leaf dies; while the internal disease symptoms included reddish roots and highly colored vascular bundles causing wilting and death of the tree. Although three Fusarium spp. (F. oxysporum, F. proliferatum and F. solani) were isolated from diseased root samples, the fungal pathogen F. solani was associated with SDS on date palm in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Fusarium spp. were identified based on their cultural and morphological characteristics. The internal transcribed spacer regions and large subunit of the ribosomal RNA (ITS/LSU rRNA) gene complex of the pathogens was further sequenced. Pathogenicity assays and disease severity indices confirm the main causal agent of SDS on date palm in the UAE is F. solani. Application of Cidely® Top (difenoconazole and cyflufenamid) significantly inhibited the fungal mycelial growth in vitro and reduced SDS development on date palm seedlings pre-inoculated with F. solani under greenhouse conditions. This is the first report confirming that the chemical fungicide Cidely® Top is strongly effective against SDS on date palm.

Приведены результаты испытаний дражированных семян цикория корневого методом создания многослойных оболочек на поверхности семян с включением ростостимулирующих препаратов и влияние различных пестицидов на урожайность и устойчивость к болезням и вредителям цикория корневого. Инскрустация семян снижает количество больных корнеплодов и корнеплодов, поврежденных вредителями и, как следствие, увеличивает их урожайность.The results of tests of drained seeds of root chicory are presented by the method of creating multilayer shells on the surface of seeds with the inclusion of growth-stimulating preparations and the effect of various pesticides on yield and resistance to diseases and pests of root chicory. Inlay of seeds reduces the number of diseased root and root crops damaged by pests and, as a result, increases their yeild.
