Lateral humeral condyle fractures in children are easily missed and often associated with complications. These complications include malunion, delayed union or nonunion, lateral spur formation, fishtail deformity and growth disturbances. There is also controversy related to best treatment options including closed vs open reduction and K-wire vs screw fixation. Though some complications like malunion are avoidable, others like lateral spur formation are inevitable. Knowledge about these complications would help in counseling patients and their families. The purpose of this article was to review common complications related to these fractures and suggest tips to avoid some of them. Keywords: Paediatric, Lateral condyle fracture, Internal oblique X-ray, Arthrogram, Anatomical reduction, Complications, Tips to overcome

An Os acromiale is a condition that results from the failure of fusion of the anterior acromial apophysis. It can be asymptomatic. It can also result in subacromial impingement and rotator cuff tear. In this case report of a 39 year-old lady we would like to present the management of the painful bursitis and spur formation on the superior surface of a meso-type of os acromiale. Conservative management in the form of rest, anti-inflammatory drugs and physiotherapy did not provide symptomatic relief. Patient then underwent surgical excision of the superior spur. Open reduction and internal fixation was not carried out. Patient had resolution of pain and no recurrence of symptoms or features of impingement at 6 months follow up. To the best of our knowledge there are limited reports in English literature about this rare subset of patients with symptomatic os acromiale with superior spur formation and with no features of impingement or cuff pathology.

Radial styloid pointing due to spur formation is considered an early sign of osteoarthritis, but is sometimes difficult to distinguish from normal anatomic variation. In this pathoanatomical study we used three-dimensional imaging techniques to evaluate quantitatively whether the styloid size is larger in wrists with scaphoid non-union than in healthy wrists. We compared these findings with duration of the non-union and with the scaphoid non-union advanced collapse classification, which was based on radiographic assessment of the general level of wrist osteoarthritis. In 31 patients, the injured styloid was consistently larger than the contralateral healthy styloid. In 74% of the patients this pathoanatomical difference (maximum 5 mm) exceeded anatomical left-to-right variation in styloid size (maximum 2 mm), indicating significant pointing. Increased styloid pointing was associated with older non-unions, and with more severe osteoarthritis. Three-dimensional styloid pointing analysis is an objective method to assess osteoarthritic progression. Combining traditional qualitative evaluation and quantitative measurements may improve the classification of wrist osteoarthritis. Level of evidence: IV

This study was to examine food security discourse between actors in the farmers family and the formation of the power of womens knowledge. The method used was a qualitative method using constructivism paradigm. Research findings indicate that there were three main actors in the discourse of food security namely the government, community and business. Each attempt to practice their discourse on family farmers. It turns out that in practice this discourse, there were interaction between actors in synergy. But the most dominant discourse was discourse of community that practiced by the family while the government discourse as a supplement and entrepreneurs discourse as a spur. Formation of the power of womens knowledge by actors were flexibles/elastics and there were differences acces of formation in power of womens knowledge between women in different social classes
