The number of women in computing in Brazil is still below the desired, both in higher education and in the labor force. One of the possible approaches to understanding this phenomenon is to conduct qualitative research with female adolescents while they are still forming their beliefs about career and courses paths to follow. This paper aims to understand how the female students of the professional high school in Informatics perceive the area of computer science in terms of basic beliefs about the area and the people who work in it. By investing in researches with this kind of students could help us to understand their perceptions about the computing area, in order to contribute in the research on Women in Computing in Brazil, because these students have already made a first choice for Computer Science as a field of study. This paper presents a qualitative analysis of the perceptions of 60 female students about their beliefs of the area of Computing. We conclude that, although the students are inserted in a professional course in Informatics, they have a limited view on Computing as an acting field.

A two-level media driven by a polychromatic field is considered in the limit of small amplitudes. In this limit the asymptotic expansions for the polarization spectra of an arbitrary order are obtained. The obtained polarization spectra were compared with the numerical solution of the density matrix equation. Compared to numerical methods, the asymptotic expansion allows analytically estimating the contribution of each individual component of the polychromatic field and describing the intermode interaction. However, as the intensity of the acting field grows, the computational efficiency of the method decreases and to achieve the required accuracy it is necessary to increase the order of the asymptotic expansion.

Rabidantes. These women purchase their products in other African countries such as Senegal, Morocco and Guinea Conakry, as well as in the United States, Netherlands and Brazil. In Cape Verde the sales  happens in Sucupira Market, one of the main commercial centers of the country where informal practices and entrepreneurship compose the rabidantes acting field. Thus, this study aims to analyze business practices, daily and profitability strategies used by rabidantes in Sucupira Market. Keywords: Sucupira. Rabidantes. In the fall of 1988, Cemal Pulak, acting field director and assistant director of the Ulu Burun excavations, asked the authors to identify the wood used in the diptych found on the fourteenth- or very early thirteenth-century Ulu Burun shipwreck. Although it has been stated generally that Greco-Roman writing tablets were made of boxwood, other woods were also used for writing tablets in various periods of antiquity. The second oldest known writing-boards, from 8th-century Nimrud, were made of walnut (Juglans nigra), and from Assyrian records we know that writing-boards were constructed of tamarisk, cypress and cedar woods. Geography clearly played a role in the choice of wood. At the port of Roman London, for example, “most of the twenty-two fragments of writing tablets recovered from the recent waterfront excavations were of the wax-impressed type made from larch, cedar or silver fir, suggesting that they … were brought over [from the continent] as finished products”; the only boxwood tablet, perhaps locally made, was not of the type that held wax.
