Despite the enormous number of online docking services available, consumers sometimes struggle to discover the services they require from time to time. On the other hand, when finding matching or recommendation platforms from an academic or industry perspective, most of the related work they can find is centralized systems. Unfortunately, the centralized systems often have shortages, such as adv-driven, lack of trust, non-transparency, and unfairness. The authors propose a peer-to-peer (P2P) service network for service discovery and recommendation. ServiceNet is a blockchain-based service ecosystem that promises to provide an open, transparent, self-growing, and self-managing service environment. The article will provide the basic concept, the proto-architecture type's design, and the proto-initial type's implementation and performance assessment.

AbstractFor the effective bearer of P2P-type services, a P2P service bearer reorientation method for passive optical network for long-distance wide access based on P2P protocol message and wire-speed message identification is proposed. However, the reorientation method still has the possibility of relocation failure, so it is modified – that is, an improved P2P service bearer reorientation method based on optical line terminal (OLT) and optical network unit (ONU) cooperation. And the tool NS2 is used for network simulation analysis. Through simulation analysis, it is verified that the modified reorientation method improves the data traffic burden at the core network and at the OLT.

As peer-to-peer (P2P) accommodation service often involves multistage interactions between hosts and guests in online and offline settings, trust between the parties involved is of the utmost importance. In particular, the possibility of interacting offline in P2P service delivery highlights the significance of interpersonal trust between hosts and guests. Accordingly, this study examines the formation of trusting beliefs in hosts, comprising prospective guests’ perception of the ability, benevolence, and integrity of the hosts. This study estimated the effects of two antecedents—propensity to trust and trust in P2P platform—on trusting beliefs, as well as the consequence of trusting beliefs, that is, behavioral intention to book from the host. Important implications for trust formation in a P2P accommodation marketplace are provided.

Skyline query-processing techniques considering various properties in peer to peer (P2P)-based services have become a recent topic of research. In this paper, we propose a new skyline query-processing scheme to improve the query-processing performance and accuracy in a mobile P2P service over delay-tolerant networks. The proposed scheme collects data on the query object from neighboring nodes and establishes a local skyline through static properties to reduce query-processing costs. To improve the query accuracy in a non-uniform distribution environment, the query-dissemination range is expanded by enforcing a query-dissemination range expansion. The performance evaluation conducted to verify the superiority of the proposed scheme demonstrates that it has a better performance compared to the existing schemes.

PurposeAirbnb is a web-based peer-to-peer (P2P) service that enables potential hosts and guests to broker accommodations in private homes as an alternative to traditional hotels. The hospitality sector has increasingly gone smoke-free over the last decade. This study identified the availability and cost of smoking-permitted accommodations identified on Airbnb.MethodsThe study team searched for Airbnb accommodations in 12 Canadian cities across each of Canada’s 10 provinces. Searches included availability for a single person for a private room, or double occupancy for an entire home/apartment; searches were for 1-night and 1-week stays.ResultsCities across Canada, including Regina, Fredericton and Charlottetown, had no smoking-permitted accommodations available for the searches conducted. The proportion of private rooms available for one night that permitted smoking ranged from 2% in Calgary, 4% in Winnipeg and St. John’s, 10% in Halifax and Victoria, 18% in Toronto, 45% in Vancouver and 69% in Montréal. The average cost for a private room for one night in Vancouver was $128, while the cost for a private room that permits smoking was $62; however, in other markets prices were more similar.DiscussionAcross Canada, there is a wide range of smoking-permitted accommodations available through Airbnb. In some markets, smoking-permitted accommodation may be significantly less expensive than smoke-free options. As hotel chains increasingly go smoke-free, it is possible that the marketplace will respond with offerings to fulfil consumer demand. As policy makers consider how to regulate P2P services like Airbnb, public health considerations should be included.
