ABSTRACT Since the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, the United States has become the world's undisputed economic superpower. However, the economic reforms carried out by China since the 1980s have had a big effect on its economic growth, so that it is able to rank as the second largest economy in the world after the United States. This makes America must respond to China's development by making strategic policies. State leaders have an important role in determining the direction of United States Foreign Policy. From 2009 to 2018, America underwent 2 transitions of leadership, namely from President Barack Obama to being replaced by President Donald Trump. Even though the two leadership eras are close together, the US Foreign Policy towards China is in stark contrast. This research will analyze how the differences in the US Foreign Policy against China in the Barack Obama and Donald Trump Era and the factors that cause differences in their policies by using the idiosyncratic individual factor approach. This article finds that the different backgrounds in the life of a country's leader will influence their perception in determining the direction of their foreign policy. Haters vs. lovers on Facebook

This paper tries to answer what is the dominant sentiment of comments that users leave on the Facebook fan pages of politicians in power. To answer this question, first the auto-code sentiment analysis of nearly 44,000 comments posted on the Facebook fan page of former US president Barack Obama was conducted. Secondly, content analysis was conducted on 2,411 comments posted on former Croatian president Ivo Josipović’s Facebook fan page. The results of auto-code sentiment analysis showed that examined comments in Obama’s case were mostly neutral and positive, while negative sentiment was the least represented in Obama’s case. The results of content analysis in the Croatian case revealed that the dominant sentiment of all comments was also positive. Finally, it was revealed that the response rate in both cases was zero, what tells us that Obama and Josipović used Facebook only for top-down communication, while the interactive potential of Facebook was neglected.

Este artigo analisa a política externa estadunidense para Cuba durante os governos Barack Obama (2009–2017) e Donald Trump (2017–2020), buscando responder à pergunta: quais razões permitem compreender as diferenças na abordagem dos governos Obama e Trump em relação à Cuba? Para tanto, realiza-se um estudo de caso comparado e utiliza-se a abordagem teórica de Helen Milner, que explica quais são os interesses, as instituições e as informações que afetam o processo decisório. Conclui-se que a correlação das diferentes pressões domésticas, somadas aos interesses de reeleição dos presidentes, contribuíram para a formulação das diferentes abordagens dos governos.
