Landslide is one of the natural disasters which cause not only infrastructure damage but also death. Nurses have a role in disaster management at the phase of mitigation to rehabilitation during landslide disasters.  This study is aimed to analyze nurses' knowledge and attitudes in the face of future landslide disasters. A quantitative method with a descriptive design was used in the study. The respondents in this study were 20 nurses who work at one rural community health center in Malang. Data were collected using a questionnaire. From the current research, most respondents had been involved in disaster emergency response activities (85%), had good knowledge (75%), and all nurses (100%) had a positive attitude towards landslide disaster preparedness. From this current study, nurses' knowledge and attitudes towards preparedness for facing landslides might be essential to build more awareness among nurses in preparing the community in facing landslides; thus, the impact of the disaster could be decreased.

Background: Hypertension is a public health threat of global concern with increasing prevalence in many countries, including Nigeria.Aim: The aim of the study was to determine the prevalence and determinants of hypertension in a rural agrarian community in Edo North, Nigeria.Setting: The study was carried out in Ayua, a community in Edo North, southern Nigeria. Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive study involved the use of a structured interviewer-administered questionnaire to obtain relevant data. Body mass index (BMI), blood pressure and glucose were recorded. Data were analysed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20.0.Results: Two hundred and nineteen participants aged 15 years completed the study with a mean age of 54.03 ± 16.61 years and females comprising 159 (72.6%) of the total. The prevalence of hypertension was 27.9% (in 61 participants). Twenty-one (9.8%) respondents gave a family history of hypertension. The mean BMI amongst respondents was 27.10 ± 6.61 kg/m2. Obesity and pre-obesity were found in 58 (26.5%) and 71(32.4%) respondents, respectively. The determinants of hypertension were age and BMI. Compared with those who were less than 40 years old, those aged 40–65 years and 65 years had 1.9 and 4.2 times increased odds of developing hypertension, respectively. Similarly, compared with the non-obese, obese participants had 2.3 times increased odd of having hypertension. Conclusion: Hypertension was highly prevalent in this rural community. Health sensitisation and intervention programmes are recommended in rural communities for early detection and management of hypertension, especially amongst older and obese adults.

Background A community health center (CHC) implemented a medical–dental integration (MDI) program where children were seen at a pediatric medical clinic or women, infants, and children program location by medical and dental providers in the same visit. Our study aims were to elicit the perspectives and experiences of providers and administrators involved in the MDI program to assess the acceptability, feasibility, and success of a CHC integration strategy in Eastern Washington. Methods This is a qualitative study where we conducted semistructured interviews over the phone over a period of 2 months with 12 medical and dental providers and clinical administrators who were involved with the MDI program. Questions addressed perspectives on workflow, patient identification and engagement, leadership support, and barriers and facilitators of the initiative. Qualitative data were analyzed, and emergent themes were identified. Results The emergent themes included (a) the MDI program is feasible and acceptable albeit with key considerations regarding the setting, including charting and service integration, progressive leadership and effective communication, and appropriate providers; (b) implementation included structural, systemic, and individual behavior barriers, (c) the program is seen as a benefit to the clinic and patients and a success to date as a way to increase access to quality care. Conclusions Findings from this study helped identify facilitators, such as cultural relevancy and progressive office systems, as well as barriers, such as reimbursement, associated with integrating medical and dental care in a rural CHC setting, is acceptable by providers, and can inform future studies and implementation strategies for others wishing to integrate these services.

Background: The field report was about the effectiveness of the rural community health practice to prove whether it's viable to the people in the community. The Objectives of the study was to gain more practical experience in the field, to acquire more knowledge in environmental health, to put theoretical knowledge into practice, and to enable the community to practice proper sanitation and hygiene. The field study was carried out in approximately two months from 16th|/July/2014 to 5th/September/2014. Methodology I reported at the organization on 17th July 2014 and was received by the District Health Inspector who later introduced him to the office public department. I received orientation in the office of the District Health Inspector for about a week and then later was sent to the sub-county for the rest of the period. I was assigned to the public health department of the Nabweru sub-country in the Wakiso district Results and observations The Organizational structure of Nabweru sub-country was fully understood. I learned better ways of how to deal with the community in many aspects. Skills gained Included Communication, and Immunization. Problems encountered included those from the organization, the workers and trainee. Conclusion and recommendation The rural community practice was important as it helped to relate what was taught in class to the practical aspect. Therefore I acknowledge the role played by the staff of Nabweru Sub-County and the community at large. The sub-county in conjunction with the district should budget for sensitization outreaches in the community.
