Abstract The coated surfaces first layer Ti and second layer TiO2 as coating Nanostructured thin films of using DC sputtering on structural steel (AISI l018) and study characterization of coating SEM/EDS inspection shown a clearly perfect incorporation of layer by dc sputtering a granular structure of the layer with a variable hemisphere’s forms varied from 33 to 46 nm in size. X-XRD test complete for specimen indicates was found anatase phase titanium dioxide, the resulted coating layer of the target of Ti powders gives different morphology from the Ti layer alone The Specimens roughness average of coated Ti and TiO2with respectively was 4.831nm, 7.93 nm. Found that titanium layer will show a major part in increasing the bonding with improving the bond between the substrate steel AISI (1018) and the titanium oxide layer. The Vickers hardness increases when the coating with a layer of titanium with an oxygen content of ceramic layer is formed from 192.3 HV to 227 for Ti as well as important increase was detected in the Tio2 coating to 240 HV. In addition, Ti and Tio2 thin layer considered as a good barrier for hydrogen permeation through steel structure especially at cathode protection in pipelines.

Corrosion in metals and its alloys is an inevitable phenomenon but can be controlled by suitable classical methods like process control, cathode protection, surface treating methods, impurity reduction in metals and addition of metals to form alloys. Nevertheless, the employment of corrosion inhibitors is still a noteworthy and simplest of all the above processes in protecting the metals and alloys especially in acidic media. Protection of metals against corrosion not only prevents corrosion but also is beneficial in terms of money loss as far as industrial equipment, surfaces and vessels are concerned. Since the use of organic and inorganic inhibitors are highly discouraged due to their high cost and toxicity, necessity has adequately aroused the development of corrosion inhibitors which are natural and green. Trends, nowadays, focussed in controlling corrosion in various metals and alloys through green corrosion inhibitors consisting of natural elements alone. In contrast to the inorganic inhibitors, green corrosion inhibitors are characterized by biodegradability, low cost and meagre toxicity. Several researchers are now turning themselves towards the research of green inhibitors which are of no threat to humans and the ecosystem. The current discussion is focussed on the fundamentals of corrosion, corrosion inhibition, materials used for it and case studies of green inhibitors used for corrosion control in various conventional and monolithic metals.

Based on the experience of the operating organizations and results of previous studies, it is determined, that the more rational criterion for the withdrawal in the repair of insulation coating on the section of the pipeline is the reserve of the current from the nominal value, and the criterion of withdrawal in the repair of anode grounding is a reserve of voltage from the nominal value. It has been revealed that with data on changes in the output parameters of the cathode protection station and protection potential at the control point for a certain period, it is possible to predict the change in the factor of influence of the station at this point for a certain period and, therefore, to predict changes in the modes of operation of this station and the technical condition of the anti-corrosion protection system at the specified required range of maintenance level of protective potential. Based on the above conclusions, algorithms have been developed to assess the residual resource of the anti-corrosion protection system on the gas pipeline site and make management decisions on its extension based on the received values in the conditions funding restrictions. Also, an algorithm has been developed to determine the residual resource of the anti-corrosion protection system with the most effective redistribution of parameters between the cathode protection stations and an algorithm that allows to determine the priority of output in the repair of the system elements.

Abstract The article presents the influence of heat treatment on corrosion properties of non-alloy steel. This steel is used in machine elements. Heat treatment has a major impact on corrosion resistance of steel materials. Laboratory methods for measuring the corrosion rate consist of Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy and polarization curves. Instead of these types, there are also industrial methods of velocity corrosion measurements like researches in natural conditions and coupons corrosimetry. These days the most popular techniques of corrosion measurements are electrochemical measurements. In order to conduct impact assessments influent of heat treatment to corrosion properties there is need to proceed few steps like prepare samples, carry out heat treatment, hardness measurements, metallographical examination, prepare samples for corrosion and proceed corrosion researches by potentiodynamic method. An important element during researches is corrosion allowance, which has an impact influent on corrosion properties. This is the most popular and efficient method of corrosion protection. These days for corrosion protection are use paints or zinc coatings, cathode protection or stainless.
