Abstract This work is devoted to numerical and partly experimental investigation of the electromechanical models of micro and nanoresonators. The main purpose of this resonators is detected the adherence of micro or nanoparticles and measurement its mass. The periodical oscillations of mono and many layers nanocapacitors, from which nanoresonator situated in electric field is constructed, are studied. The purpose of this work is creating of electromechanical models of MEMS and NEMS the aim of which is to identify the changes introduced into dynamic systems due to adhesion of micro or nanoparticles. It’s significant to note that the time of overcharge of the nano-capacitor is much less, then the period of excited oscillations. This fact gives the possibility to apply asymptotic methods in numerical investigation. Physical experiments similar in model to the electromechanical nanoresonators were carried out. This work is an extended review article based on the results of previous our works.

In this extended review essay we discuss the lectures on sexuality which Foucault delivered in the 1960s, published in a single volume in 2018. The first part of the volume comprises five lectures given at the University of Clermont-Ferrand in 1964 to psychology students. The second part is Foucault’s course ‘The Discourse of Sexuality’, given at the experimental University of Vincennes in 1969 in the philosophy department. We explore both the themes of the lectures, and the important editorial materials provided by Claude-Olivier Doron which situate these themes in relation to recent developments in the history and philosophy of biology, gender and sexuality. These lectures provide some important and surprising additions to Foucault’s more familiar interest in sexuality, with discussion of plant and animal biology, sex differentiation, the question of sexual behaviour, perversion and infantile sexuality.

It is well known that music plays an important role in advertising. The notion of music as advertisement, however, is less recognized. The new economic reality of the information age—sometimes referred to as the “attention economy”—has amplified the self-advertising character of popular music by encouraging music makers to pursue compositional practices that enhance the attention-grabbing quality of the music. Using the analytical framework proposed by Huron (1989), this chapter examines the dual function of popular music as both product and self-advertisement through an extended review of the empirical literature on popular music.

This article provides an extended review of The Calling of Social Thought, a collection of essays about the thought of social theorist Edward Shils. The article includes preliminary observations about Shils’ life and work, brief summaries of the essays included in the collection, and several suggestions aimed at encouraging additional study of Shils’ writings.

This essay is a response to Struan Jacobs, “Recovering the Thought of Edward Shils,” which is an extended review of Adair-Toteff and Turner’s The Calling of Social Thought. It considers Edward Shils as a “stranger,” in the sense defined by Georg Simmel, relative to contemporary sociology. Christian Smith’s claim that American sociology is implicitly pursuing a “sacred project” is invoked, in contrast with Shils’ vision for consensual sociology. The expansion by CST to “Social Thought” as a calling (vocation), and its ties to science as understood by Polanyi, are strongly affirmed.

Security visualization has been an issue, and it continues to grow in many directions. In order to give sufficient security visualization designs, information both in many different aspects of visualization techniques and the security problems is required. More beneficial designs depend on decisions that include use cases covering security artifacts and business requirements of the organizations, correct and optimal use of data sources, and selection of proper display types. To be able to see the big picture, the designers should be aware of available data types, possible use cases and different styles of displays. In this chapter, these properties of a large set of earlier security visualization work have been depicted and classified using both textual and graphical ways. This work also contains information related to trending topics of the domain, ways of user interaction, evaluation, and validation techniques that are commonly used for the security visualization designs.
