The paper is devoted to an investigation of the genus of an orientable closed surface $M^{2}$ which admits $A$-endomorphisms whose nonwandering set contains a one-dimensional strictly invariant contracting repeller $\Lambda_{r}$ with a uniquely defined unstable bundle and with an admissible boundary of finite type. First, we prove that, if $M^{2}$ is a torus or a sphere, then $M^{2}$ admits such an endomorphism. We also show that, if $\Omega$ is a basic set with a uniquely defined unstable bundle of the endomorphism $f\colon M^{2}\to M^{2}$ of a closed orientable surface $M^{2}$ and $f$ is not a diffeomorphism, then $\Omega$ cannot be a Cantor type expanding attractor. At last, we prove that, if $f\colon M^{2}\to M^{2}$ is an $A$-endomorphism whose nonwandering set consists of a finite number of isolated periodic sink orbits and a one-dimensional strictly invariant contracting repeller of Cantor type $\Omega_{r}$ with a uniquely defined unstable bundle and such that the lamination consisting of stable manifolds of $\Omega_{r}$ is regular, then $M^{2}$ is a two-dimensional torus $\mathbb{T}^{2}$ or a two-dimensional sphere $\mathbb{S}^{2}$.

We consider order-preserving $C^3$ circle maps with a flat piece, irrational rotation number and critical exponents $(l_1, l_2)$. We detect a change in the geometry of the system. For $(l_1, l_2) \in [1, 2]^2$ the geometry is degenerate and becomes bounded for $(l_1, l_2) \in [2, \infty)^2 \backslash \{(2, 2)\}$. When the rotation number is of the form $[abab \ldots]$; for some $a, b \in \mathbb{N}^*$, the geometry is bounded for $(l_1, l_2)$ belonging above a curve defined on $]1, +\infty[^2$. As a consequence, we estimate the Hausdorff dimension of the nonwandering set $K_f=\mathcal{S}^1\backslash \bigcup^\infty_{i=0}f^{-i}(U)$. Precisely, the Hausdorff dimension of this set is equal to zero when the geometry is degenerate and it is strictly positive when the geometry is bounded.

This paper is devoted to the topological classification of structurally stable diffeomorphisms of the two-dimensional torus whose nonwandering set consists of an orientable one-dimensional attractor and finitely many isolated source and saddle periodic points, under the assumption that the closure of the union of the stable manifolds of isolated periodic points consists of simple pairwise nonintersecting arcs. The classification of one-dimensional basis sets on surfaces has been exhaustively obtained in papers by V. Grines. He also obtained a classification of some classes of structurally stable diffeomorphisms of surfaces using combined algebra-geometric invariants. In this paper, we distinguish a class of diffeomorphisms that admit purely algebraic differentiating invariants.

In the present paper axiom diffeomorphisms of closed 2-manifolds of genus whose nonwandering set contains perfect spaciously situated one-dimensional attractor are considered. It is shown that such diffeomorphisms are topologically semiconjugate to pseudo-Anosov homeomorphism with the same induced automorphism of fundamental group. The main result of the paper is the following. Two diffeomorphisms from the given class are topologically conjugate on attractors if and only if corresponding pseudo-Anosov homeomorphisms are topologically conjugate by means of homeomorphism that maps a certain subset of one pseudo-Anosov map onto the certain subset of the other pseudo-Anosov map.

We investigate the chaotic dynamics of a two-dimensional piecewise smooth map. The map represents the normal form of a discrete time representation of impact oscillators near grazing states. It is proved that, in certain region of the parameter space, the nonwandering set of the map is contained in a bounded region and that, restricted to the nonwandering set, the map is topologically conjugate to the two-sided shift map on two symbols.

AbstractIn this paper, we consider positively weak measure expansive homeomorphisms and flows with the shadowing property on a compact metric space X. Moreover, we prove that if a homeomorphism (or flow) has a positively weak expansive measure and the shadowing property on its nonwandering set, then its topological entropy is positive.

Let [Formula: see text] be a compact metric space and [Formula: see text] be an [Formula: see text]-tuple of continuous selfmaps on [Formula: see text]. This paper investigates Hausdorff metric Li–Yorke chaos, distributional chaos and distributional chaos in a sequence from a set-valued view. On the basis of this research, we draw the main conclusions as follows: (i) If [Formula: see text] has a distributionally chaotic pair, especially [Formula: see text] is distributionally chaotic, the strongly nonwandering set [Formula: see text] contains at least two points. (ii) We give a sufficient condition for [Formula: see text] to be distributionally chaotic in a sequence and chaotic in the strong sense of Li–Yorke. Finally, an example to verify (ii) is given.
