Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16 Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions is one of 17 SDGs identified by the UN in 2015. The SDGs that supersede the Millennium Development Goals imply continuous multilateral actions to ensure their full and timely implementation. Analysis of the available literature shows that insufficient attention is paid to the international component of SDG implementation. An insufficient examination of Russias participation in international initiatives to implement the SDGs, and SDG 16 in particular, is also noted. This article intends to fill in this gap by presenting the results of an analysis of Russias activities in the international arena, contributing to the implementation of SDG 16. Russia today is one of the key actors in international politics. Russias activities in the international arena, including its participation in multilateral programs of assistance to countries and regions experiencing difficulties in resolving internal conflicts, contribute to the implementation of SDG 16. However, this aspect is not covered in Russias Voluntary National Review for the High-Level Political Forum, nor in available research. The author examines the features of a modern approach to studying the international aspect of the SDGs implementation. Furthermore, the author analyzes Russias activities on the international arena contributing to SDG 16 implementation. The article concludes with the authors observations regarding appropriate steps to increase Russias contribution to SDG 16 implementation.

This work is the first part of a national review about Bank Filtration (BF) that began in 2003, in Brazil. These studies were conducted in the laboratory and in the field with water and natural sediment from the study regions, showing how BF has been efficient worldwide for the treatment of water for public supply as an alternative treatment. It aims to show the synthesis of results to date and point out its main benefits and challenges; that is, the state of the art at the national level. The review is concentrated in Santa Catarina (part 1), Pernambuco and Minas Gerais (part 2). BF demonstrates efficiency in reducing parameters such as turbidity and coliforms (total and fecal), pesticides and toxins. However, BF showed low capacity in reducing parameters such as salinity and true color. BF is highly dependent on local geological conditions, so parameters such as iron, manganese, fluorine, alkalinity, hardness, and chlorides can be added to the treated water. Keywords: Water Treatment. Bank Filtration. Public Supply Systems. Natural Sediment. Water Quality.

The media outlets usually identified as building blocks of New Right are niche ideological journals (such as National Review) and radio broadcasts. As crucial as these outlets were, other mainstream publications propagating similar ideas had a far greater reach—foremost among them the New York Daily News, the highest-circulation newspaper in the country. From the 1940s through the 1960s, the Daily News espoused a conservative populism further right than National Review, binding its readers into a community based on anti-elitism and white working-class identity.

Abstract Aim In the U.K, Dental Core Training (DCT) is an elective postgraduate training programme. There are over 700 DCT jobs with the majority in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS). Our focus was to measure the confidence and skills of 103 DCTs, as they mature during a year in OMFS. Method OMFS DCTs answered questionnaires in month 1, 3 and 6 of their training post, regarding confidence and proficiency in assessment of dental infections, facial fractures, swellings, pathology, airway risk, imaging and performing suturing. Results In month 1, 55% of DCTs were ‘somewhat confident’ in performing intra-oral suturing and assessing dento-facial infection out of the skills assessed. Only 22% of DCTs were ‘extremely confident’ in any competencies. Specifically, DCTs felt ‘not at all confident’ with interpretation of scans (78%) and assessment of facial fractures (35%). Between month 1 and month 6 there has been an increase in confidence across all competencies. Notably, a 42% confidence increase in extra-oral suturing and 61% increase in assessing mandibular fractures. Conclusions We demonstrate that an OMFS training year improves confidence in clinical skills and that an adequate time in a post is required to attain that. Our results highlight areas where DCTs lack confidence early in their posts. These could be targeted at dental school, during the hospital induction process or through guided support and training in the initial phase of their jobs. This study adds clarity to both dentists and doctors contemplating a training year in OMFS and gives insight into how to support and train them.
