Background: Breast plastic surgery is a rapidly evolving field of medicine. The modern view of surgical trends reflects the desire to minimize complications and introduce advanced technologies. These always will be priorities for surgeons. Reconstructive surgery, a branch of plastic surgery focusing on restoration of lost functional and aesthetic component, seeks to enhance psychological rehabilitation and improves the quality of life, as well as aesthetic recovery. Objective: This review addresses the action of fibrin agents and their effect on the quality of surgical hemostasis. Discussion and Conclusion: The fundamental goals for the surgeon are to perform a minimally traumatic intervention and to prevent any form of complication. Achieving complete hemostasis is an intraoperative necessity. Timely prevention of bleeding and hemorrhagic phenomena can affect not only the outcome of the operation, but also the incidence of postoperative complications. Topics include the integrity of microvascular anastomoses, tissue adhesion, and the incidence of seromas and hematomas associated with fibrin glue usage. The literature on fibrin adhesives with respect to prevention of postoperative complications, and the effectiveness with active drainage also are analyzed.

ABSTRACTMost of our rural population does not seek the expensive specialist service of distant city hospitals due to social or financial reasons. Existing health system in rural area is not efficient enough to meet the health demands of such vast population. There is only one Government Plastic surgery unit covering the population of 40 lacs leading to huge backlog of patients waiting for reconstructive surgery. To evade this situation a team of Plastic surgeons from Government Medical College Jabalpur goes to rural areas twice a year and has operated in on nine occasions since last 4 years. The activities and experiences of the last nine visits are reported here.

In plastic and reconstructive surgery, innovation and creativity have been foremost, with science and evidence following. Unlike for a number of other specialties, the advances in plastic surgery have largely come from imagination, innovations, and trial and error, rather than from scientific trials. Somewhat more than for the rest of surgery, in plastics (where the art and craft of each particular surgeon counts immeasurably), randomized controlled trials of techniques have failed to be generated in the past, due to the difficulty of objectively assessing the success of surgery with an aesthetic-based nature. Consequently, evidence-based study of plastic surgery is a relatively new and developing field. This chapter focuses on the growing importance of evidence-based surgery in this specialty, showing that scientific trials are now being performed with increasing frequency.

Surgery for correction of aural atresia was performed on 156 ears in 111 patients. A comparison was made between plastic surgery for auricular reconstruction and the bone-anchored epithesis. Another comparison was performed between hearing Improvement after reconstructive surgery for meatal and middle ear atresia and the bone-anchored hearing aid. It was found that the bone-anchored epithesis is an excellent alternative to plastic reconstructive surgery of the auricle. The bone-anchored hearing aid could be considered as a strong alternative to surgery in patients with meatal and middle ear atresia – especially in patients with advanced malformations. Neither the bone-anchored epithesis nor the bone-anchored hearing aid excludes the patient from reconstructive surgery later in life.

The article describes the application of methods and methods of reconstructive surgery of iatrogenic false aneurysms of the left femoral artery. Experience shows the optimality of the choice and method of surgical treatment of iatrogenic aneurysms of the femoral artery by restoring prosthetic arteries. The article presents a clinical case of surgical treatment of iatrogenic aneurysm of the left femoral artery resulting from a puncture of the left femoral artery. The elimination of the aneurysm was accompanied by plastic surgery of the defect (5–6 cm) of the left femoral artery by applying prosthetics to the vessels. The rationale for the choice of surgical intervention is given.

For more than 5 decades, microvascular surgery has been growing and found its place in reconstructive surgery. In Indonesia, microsurgery became popular since 30 years ago. In the past, this subspecialty was developed for soft tissue transfer and replantation of amputated extremities.
