The paper presents investigation results and a technology for manufacturing fastener workpieces out of the 07Kh16N6-Sh (07Х16Н6-Ш) steel using high-temperature heat treatment. The steel undergoing our testing was additionally doped with molybdenum, as reflected in the 07Kh16N6M-Sh (07Х16Н6М-Ш) designation, which facilitated grain refinement. We implemented accelerated climate testing of bolts in order to assess the corrosion cracking resistance of 07Kh16N6-Sh (07Х16Н6-Ш), 07Kh16N6M-Sh (07Х16Н6М-Ш) and 13Kh15N4AM3-Sh (13Х15Н4АМ3-Ш) steel fasteners in maritime climates.

In previous study, it was investigated texture formation behaviour of high-temperature plane strain compression test at 723K, under a strain rate of 5.0. It was found that the main texture component and it was sharpness vary depending on deformation conditions. To clarify the characteristic of texture formation behaviour, it is necessary to investigate at various deformation condition. Therefore, in this study, is investigating the influence or texture formation behaviour and strain, strain rate at 673K. Three kinds of specimens with different initial textures were machined out from a rolled plate having a <0001> texture. The plane strain compression tests were conducted at a temperature 673K, and a strain rate of 5.0, with strain between-0.4 to-1.0. After compression tests, the specimens were immediately quenched in oil. The texture evolution was conducted by the Schulz reflection method using Cu Kα radiation and EBSD. Before the deformation, {0001} of specimen A was accumulated in the center of pole figure. The {0001} of specimen B was accumulated at the RD direction. The {0001} of specimen C was accumulated TD direction. As a result, work softening is observed in all the cases at the true stress – true strain curve for three types of specimens. After deformation, the maximum pole density of increases with increasing strain. In this study, it was found that the stable orientation was (0001)<100> and (0001)<110> during deformation.

The microstructure, deformation mechanisms, dynamic recrystallization (DRX) behavior, and texture evolution of AZ80 magnesium alloy were investigated by three-pass cyclic expansion-extrusion (CEE) tests. Optical microscopy (OM), electron back-scattered diffraction (EBSD), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were employed to study microstructure, grain orientation, DRX mechanism, and texture evolution. The results show that the grain sizes decrease continuously with the increase of CEE pass. The grain refinement effect of the first pass is the most remarkable, and there appear a large number of twins. After three-pass CEE, a well-distributed structure with fine equiaxed grains is obtained. With the increase of CEE pass, the deformation mechanism changes from twinning to slipping and the DRX mechanism changes mainly from twinning-induced dynamic recrystallization (TDRX) to rotation dynamic recrystallization (RDRX) and then to continuous dynamic recrystallization (CDRX). The grain misorientation between the new grains and matrix grains deceases gradually, and a relatively small angle misorientation is obtained after three-pass CEE. Grain misorientations of the first two passes are attributed to TDRX and RDRX behaviors, respectively. The grain refinement changes the deformation and DRX mechanisms of CEE process, which leads the (0002) basal texture intensity first decrease and then increase suddenly. Eventually, the extremely strong basal texture is formed after three-pass CEE.

The softening of fine-grained ECAPed AZ31 Mg alloys could be ascribed to the texture modification during ECAP. Lower ECAP temperature is more effective in refining the microstructure. The strength of the ECAPed AZ 31 Mg alloys increased with decrease in grain size when they have similar texture.

ABSTRACTThe effect of adding boron to Ti3Al on the microstructure and high temperature tensile properties has been studied. Boron caused a large grain refinement that dominated the tensile properties at all temperatures. Particles of Ti2B were found in all of the boron containing alloys. TiB was found only at concentrations of 0.1% B or more.
