SummaryA new procedure is described for separating radiopotassium in the form of the Perchlorate in neutron activation analysis of biological samples. Compared to the classic procedure used in gravimetry (evaporation with HClO4 to a small volume) precipitation with 20% HClO4 at room temperature is used. The product thus obtained is radiochemically purer, and the separation is more rapid than in the classic procedure. An optimum of the sodium holdback carrier concentration has been found. The method described has been used to determine potassium in blood samples.
