The rapid development of information technology (IT) has enabled digital services to evolve continually and support a growing number of internet-enabled devices, along with user diversity. The end-user anticipation within the smart environments, which are internet-enabled, delivery networks and innovative technologies. What tools/methods can support the collaborative design and effectively choreograph the design process with dynamic knowledge between service designers and service users? The cooperative design is recognizable in the design environment with a collection wide-ranged by co-design methods and tools. In-depth interviews uncover contextually appropriate design process requirements from diverse stakeholder groups. A collection of design tools and methods are selected and implemented within a Web-based co-design platform. Uncovered design requirements are subsequently applied in extending the Double Diamond framework prior to operationalization into a design process blueprint with supporting service design tool selection as the main contributions for this paper.

The purpose of this study is to construct a web-based Computer Support for Collaborative Design (CSCD) learning platform based on theories related to a constructivist learning environment model, mind mapping and computer-supported collaborative learning. The platform conforms to the needs of design students and provides effective tools for interaction and collaborative learning by integrating mind-mapping tools into a learning environment that utilizes CSCD, a computer-assisted support system that can support and enhance group collaboration. The establishment of the CSCD learning platform represents a significant advance beyond the fixed functions and existing models of current online learning platforms and is the only learning platform in the world that focuses on learners in design departments. The platform offers outstanding user-friendly functions and innovative technology. In terms of funding, technical ability, human resources, organizational strategies, and risk analysis and evaluations, the learning platform is also worthy of expansion and implementation.

A web-based collaborative design advisory system for designing micro products is being developed, which is based on use of both knowledge and rules. The system is aimed at helping designers to assess/optimise the design of micro products to be manufactured with micro-forming. The Microsoft C# programming language, ASP.Net technique and Microsoft Access database system have been used to develop this system. The system is composed of various assessment modules such as product geometry features, forming processes, materials, machines, tools and cost assessment modules. Clients can use/browse the user interface of the integrated system through the internet to import a CAD design model and define design parameters. The system is not only able to assess the client’s design but also to generate preliminary process plans for the selected micro-forming processes. A micro-pin design is used as an example to test the capability of the 1st prototype system. With such a system, some advantages such as increasing the design efficiency in the web-based collaborative design environment have been identified.

In conceptual design, a number of design concepts and alternatives would be generated. These concepts and alternatives usually need to be evaluated to reduce the search space. However, it is not easy for the designers to determine which alternative is better, especially in the design environment where multiple designers might be involved. Current researches mainly focused on the evaluation models, but rarely provide the integrated tools to assist the evaluation process. To address this problem, we propose a web-based collaborative design evaluation platform and two evaluation principles for different evaluation situations. A design case is used to illustrate the evaluation process, where it is necessary for the designers to select a working phenomenon for the “generate force” subfunction of a nailing machine.

BACKGROUND Information and communication technology (ICT) use may enhance social work practice and continuous professional development. Under the Hong Kong Jockey Club SMART Family-Link project, we developed an innovative web-based training, learning, and sharing (i-TLS) platform to support ICT and other learning needs of Hong Kong social workers in family services. OBJECTIVE We developed i-TLS with 3 major components (i-Training, i-Learning, and i-Sharing) and assessed the acceptability and impact on facilitating ICT use in family services. METHODS We described i-TLS development based on a 4-phase model from platform design, development, implementation to maintenance. We evaluated i-TLS via platform database, Google Analytics, a self-administered survey, and individual phone interviews 1 year after launching. RESULTS i-TLS was launched to 26 Integrated Family Service Centers (IFSCs) and Integrated Services Centers (ISCs) operated by 12 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) on 1 July 2019. The outbreak of COVID-19 started in December 2019 limited face-to-face services, which catalyzed the urgent needs of digital transformation in social work practice. By 31 July 2020, 313 social workers (23 supervisors, 290 frontline workers) had registered with i-TLS. The platform database showed 79.6% (249/313) users accessed i-TLS at least once in the last 28 days, with on average 3.2 platform visits per day viewing 4.8 pages per visit. i-Training provided 41 training mini-modules in applying ICT to family services from counseling, program design, implementation to evaluation. Of 730 enrolments in total, 70.0% (511/730) completed the mini-modules and were awarded digital mini-certificates. i-Learning provided 112 items of learning resources centered around ICT use and family services and had nearly 4000 page views recorded from Google Analytics. i-Sharing had a total of 25 discussion threads with 59 posts. 53.7% (168/313) users completed the 1-year evaluation survey, including 12 who participated in the phone interviews. The mean i-TLS satisfaction score (out of 10) increased from light (4.99) to occasional (6.15) and frequent (6.31) users. Frequent users showed higher scores (out of 10) than light users for an increase in knowledge (5.84 versus 4.09; P<.001), self-efficacy (5.23 versus 3.96; P=.02), and knowledge application (6.46 versus 1.91; P<.001). From the phone interviews, users reported increased ICT use in family services, despite some practical barriers. i-TLS was perceived as an acceptable and supportive tool for learning and practice in family services, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. CONCLUSIONS We have first reported the development and evaluation of a newly developed web-based learning platform (i-TLS) for social workers in family services. The results provided preliminary evidence of using i-TLS to support social workers’ continuous learning and ICT-enhanced services. Accessibility to self-directed and collaborative learning is essential for optimizing social workers’ learning. Further research on enhancing web-based platforms is needed to expand participation and capacity building of social workers and other related professionals. This paper attends to study Windows Server and SQL Server to form a combination of the two operating systems to establish an online learning platform. The platform basically completed the user needs to achieve functional, but also focuses on the application of Ajax technology, the use of this technology at the user level can be completed without page refresh can be achieved through video effects, the data layer, it reduces the data access to the database pressure, improve the overall performance of the overall learning platform, the results show that the techniques of this paper can be used in a very good application and online learning platform.
