O presente estudo aborda questões metodológicas de projeto de design em que o usuário atua de maneira mais participativa, na etapa de teste. O objetivo dessa reflexão é apresentar uma experiência projetual de um aplicativo para smartphones que partiu de um exercício proposto em uma disciplina do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Design da Faculdade de Arquitetura, Artes e Comunicação e Design da Universidade Estadual Paulista, durante o primeiro semestre de 2019. A problemática levantada no presente estudo foi a gestão e o desperdício de alimentos em âmbito doméstico. Para o desenvolvimento do APP, utilizou-se em seu processo o Método das múltiplas convergências proposto por Barcellos (2020), que é uma adaptação e combinação ordenada entre o Design Process, Engineering Design Process, Double Diamond e Design Thinking. A metodologia direciona-se para o projeto-inovação, como uma ferramenta de avaliação e identificação de problemas e interação. Com isso, foram realizados durante o processo dois testes avaliativos diretamente com os usuários. Através dos feedbacks recebidos identificou-se algumas problemáticas e, requisitos projetuais foram alterados para atender com efetividade às diretrizes de UX. As mudanças realizadas puderam ser resolvidas antes do protótipo final do produto. Com relação a inovação do produto apresentado, (87,5%) participantes consideraram o produto muito inovador ou totalmente inovador, demonstrando boa adequação do produto proposto ao conceito e a problemática inicial do projeto. Entretanto, identifica-se que uma metodologia que apresente a etapa de criatividade, a entrega da ideia e o processo de testagem em pequenas partes, que são adicionadas e avaliadas de maneira frequente, acomodaria melhor o escopo do projeto em futuras etapas programáveis, se mostrando favorável para o aprofundamento desta pesquisa e de próximos estudos de caso.

STEM has successfully introduced an interdisciplinary education model that can be used for training students to develop skillsets for the 21st century. STEM Education for Sustainability (STEM4S) expands the scope of education to meet rapidly changing global challenges, such as climate change and SDGs by the United Nations, which require the multidisciplinary curriculum to be integrated into STEM. Design-based tasks play a significant role in STEM education by promoting students’ critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. While STEM successfully employs design, design education currently conducts subjective procedures and lacks the framework for adopting the critical-thinking process. Therefore, design education can develop students’ cognitive skills by reflecting on STEM learning experiences. This study articulates the framework for design education by investigating problem-based and project-based learning and the double-diamond diagram for innovation. The goal of this study was to apply these observations and formulate the framework for STEM4S. This study examined the framework adopted at the National Taiwan Normal University in the Department of Design, with qualitative analysis of participants and quantitative analysis of questionnaire results. Finally, the researchers discuss the research questions and future applications of this framework.

The province of Tungurahua in Ecuador has a participation of 76% at the national level within the leather production chain with the production of raw materials, these are used in the manufacture of 80% of footwear in the country. These production processes generate environmental problems, the greatest impact being on the water, due to the dumping of liquid waste with chemical contents in rivers, this generates bad odors, gases, smoke and polluting solid waste from this process. According to data from tanneries, approximately 88% of the raw material is transformed, while the remaining 12% is considered as waste (leather trimmings), which are used in other manufacturing processes (footwear, textile industry, leather goods and others), the chip obtained from the process is compressed and discarded. As a preventive action, a process is proposed to generate new products through the use of waste obtained from leather processing. The design methodology is the Double Diamond: discover, define, develop and deliver a new product that reuses this waste, a block of dimensions 150 x 75 x 5 mm and 300 grams of weight was obtained, which can be applied in the sector of construction and allow the transition from a linear production process to a circular process.

Transition from the status quo to more sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) practices is a highly complex and non-linear process with multiple drivers, but also obstacles, on the way. The impending strict regulatory framework, particularly in terms of the environmental dimensions of sustainability development (SD), is single-handedly opening the door to rapid and potentially disruptive change. The research literature on SSCM has increased exponentially over the last decade to meet the mounting demand for information on how to tackle often conflicting sustainability-related requirements while satisfying all internal and external stakeholders. Due to the continuously evolving and wicked nature of SSCM, a limited number of scholars have approached the issue with design thinking problem solving methodologies (DTPSMs). The results of a systematic literature review (SLR) were mirrored with the Evolved Double Diamond (EDD) design process model to formulate a design thinking overview and trace potential research gaps of selected frameworks and models regarding the sustainability transition (ST) of supply chains (SCs). The research results demonstrate that modelling the ST in SC as a wicked problem can contribute to the creation of more structured and novel SSCM models and frameworks, which take into deeper consideration the evolving nature of the issue and improve facilitation practices of stakeholder engagement.

Given the increasing value of lifelong learning, self-directed learning (SDL) has become increasingly relevant over time. In rural areas with limited service resources, the main approach to NEET-youth depicts them more as young people in need, and less as people with the potential for self-development and participation in lifelong learning. The growing importance of people’s return to education, flexible learning paths, and the need for quick adaptation and re-training in a rapidly changing society emphasizes the need to design service models for NEET-youth. This is in order to support their SDL skills, and indicate the service providers’ role throughout the process. The empirical study in Estonia was grounded on the Double Diamond service design method using quantitative data on the respondents’ readiness for SDL, and also qualitative data from service providers about their roles and the affordances of their services in supporting SDL skills. The model was tested with rural NEET-youth.

We aimed to develop a telehealth peer support program for isolated dementia caregivers. This paper reports the co-design process by telehealth and the impact and experiences of participants. The Double Diamond model guided the co-design process, which has four phases, with participants reflecting on their caregiving experiences. Group meetings were recorded, notes compiled with inductive thematic analysis undertaken for phases one to three. Each phase findings were presented to the group for verification and refinement. Semi-structured interviews with participants were completed at the end of the project. Six dementia caregivers were recruited from dispersed locations with diverse characteristics. The process identified eight key topics to be included in a program to be delivered by telehealth. Participants reported the technology did not detract from the co-design and at times aided it, despite some technical problems. All reported high levels of group connectedness, feeling supported and transfer of knowledge and skills. One participant would have liked more understanding of the process. The group continued to meet without professional input for 2.5 years following the completion of the project. Telehealth can be a mechanism to support diverse populations in participating in co-design projects.

The rapid development of information technology (IT) has enabled digital services to evolve continually and support a growing number of internet-enabled devices, along with user diversity. The end-user anticipation within the smart environments, which are internet-enabled, delivery networks and innovative technologies. What tools/methods can support the collaborative design and effectively choreograph the design process with dynamic knowledge between service designers and service users? The cooperative design is recognizable in the design environment with a collection wide-ranged by co-design methods and tools. In-depth interviews uncover contextually appropriate design process requirements from diverse stakeholder groups. A collection of design tools and methods are selected and implemented within a Web-based co-design platform. Uncovered design requirements are subsequently applied in extending the Double Diamond framework prior to operationalization into a design process blueprint with supporting service design tool selection as the main contributions for this paper.


This paper analyzes the competitiveness of the textile and garment industry in Vietnam for the period 2010 to 2020. The analysis is performed using two approaches applied on both quantitative and qualitative aspects the Generalized Double Diamond Model (GDDM), analyzed international competitiveness of Vietnam’s G&T industry and compared it with China and impact variables of international competitiveness to market share (MS), trade competitiveness (TC) and revealed comparative advantage (RCA) are tested against the estimated coefficients of these variables. The results from show that Vietnam was less competitive than China and it is necessary to increase investment in fixed assets of VietNam's textile and garment industry, accelerate the rate of equipment upgrading, improve the level of industrialization, and at the same time increase the supply of spare parts. textile materials and lower the cost of raw materials prices, thereby reducing costs for textile enterprises.
