Does rejection lead to disidentification? The role of internal motivation and avoidance strategies

Entering a new group provides the potential of forming a new social identity. Starting from self-regulation models, we propose that goals (e.g., internal motivation to enter the group), strategies (e.g., approach and avoidance strategies), and events (e.g., the group’s response) affect the development of the social self. In two studies we manipulated the group’s response (acceptance vs. rejection) and assessed internal motivation as well as approach and avoidance strategies. It was expected, and we found, that when newcomers are accepted, their use of approach strategies (but not avoidance strategies) facilitates social identification. In line with self-completion theory, for highly internally motivated individuals approach strategies facilitated social identification even upon rejection. The results underline the active role of newcomers in their social identity development.

The human side of open innovation (OI) has not been extensively studied; however, when companies develop new products or services, it is essential to foster corporate innovativeness, and managing personnel is a key to this. Human resource (HR) practices are an essential means by which companies can influence and shape the skillset, attitudes, and behaviour of individuals to do their work and can systematise the work of the whole organisation. In this paper, we aim to contribute to understanding the role of HR in open innovation, by analysing the HR practices in companies operating under an open innovation approach. We test our model with the PLS-SEM method, using Smart PLS software. Our findings suggest that personnel education is essential in supporting corporate open innovation strategies. Internal motivation systems prove to be valuable assets to support internal and external openness in OI implementation. High appreciation of personnel and its value to company are important for increasing external and internal openness.

The central concern of the present paper are metonymy avoidance strategies as a limiting case of polysemy resolution. Specifically, I look into the role of suffixation in the resolution of metonymy-induced polysemy in a number of languages (Germanic, Romance, Slavic and Hungarian) in two frames, animals and their meat, and trees and woods. The particular mix of strategies a language makes use of is of course dependent on its structural makeup. It is established that Slavic languages do not really have many choices apart from suffixation in the resolution of metonymy-induced polysemy. The analysis of patterns of suffixation found in six Slavic languages reveals that unlike compounding, which as good as removes any ambiguity in spite of its underspecificity, suffixation as a polysemy-resolving strategy is even more underspecified, and as an interesting twist, prone to contract additional polysemy or just relegate it to another level.

In the article the role of heuristic methods of training in development of an intrinsic motivation of the educational activity of students of specialty "Physical culture" reveals. The methodological basis of research is constituted by pedagogical heuristics – methodology of training through own search. Content of heuristic training includes two parts: invariant which is set from the outside and is acquired by the student, and variable, created by each of them in the course of educational activity.The problem of research is formulated as a question: how it is possible to strengthen an intrinsic motivation of educational activities of students during teaching subject "Anatomy".The orientation of motivation of studying by students of subject "Anatomy" came to light by T. D. Dubovitskaya's test (reliability 0,935 (on Spirmen-Brown's formula) and 0,927 (on Cronbach's formula)). The data on change of dynamics of the academic progress of students confirming efficiency of heuristic methods are also provided in article.

The processes of globalization and related integration that are taking place in the world, as well as the transition to the digitalization of all spheres of human life in the information society, adjustments introduced into people's lives, caused by unforeseen situations that cover the whole world, require a revision of the content of modern education. The relevance of the study is related to the need to search for stable support in a person in a constantly changing world, which inevitably leads to studying the role of the internal as related to the external factor in a person in the education system. The purpose of the article is to reveal the role of the inner world of a person in education. The leading research method was the analysis of the existing theoretical provisions and emerging practice in the spheres of pedagogy and education. The results of the study on the analysis of the role and place of the internal (motivation, impetus as the beginning of development, self-ordering) as related to the external (factors, causes, and conditions).
