Mean-making is a very complex process, involving social, moral and psychological aspects. When it comes to trauma or crimes, the ability to “make sense” of the events and to find meaning in the midst of chaos is associated with greater psychological resilience (Chan et al., 2006). However, when it comes to sexual offenders, the existence of a usual stuck-point in mean-making. Specifically, given the many levels of the crime the offender is usually not able to access all these levels, as some are deeper than their awareness. At that moment, the talk therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy for developing adaptive skills are crucial, as they have to create a safe context, in which the person can think freely and explore their inner world.

Increased interest in everyday life and routine explains a new and relevant perception of the creative agenda of contemporary German writer Wilhelm Genazino (1943-2018), known as “poetizing everyday life”. The article, thus, aims to offer a comprehensive view into the poetics of the German novelist to identify ways in which everyday life is poetized, which is an example of linguistic mastery, narrative skill, and philosophical generalization. A close reading method is used to analyze specific scenes from the novels (An Umbrella for One Day, Happiness in Unhappy Times, The Foolishness of Love, If We Were Animals), in which the characters actively practice the “extended gaze”, theoretically validated in W. Genazino’s essay, to reveal a system of special ties important to their inner world behind the routine situations and worn clothes. The writer believes that in such a way, characters experience an epiphany, which provokes further musing about art and the mystery of everyday life. In this connection, it is established that Genazino’s characters manage to avoid the negative influences of society by distancing from it via self-invented aesthetic processes. They are constantly searching for individual vision. It is also noted that the writer focuses on prolonged disappearance scenes, works with time accumulated in objects, and projects distancing from one’s own self to clothes. The extended gaze which the protagonists use to watch their own portrayals helps them overcome identity crisis and generate art, which promises salvation, through simple observance. It is concluded that W. Genazino talks about the aesthetic link between the subject and object perceived as individual “cultural significance”. It enables the protagonists to discard the routine and enter a space outside the limits they have themselves created. Everyday objects and familiar situations have the capacity to stimulate memories and boost creative perception. Their fleeting nature provides for compensatory narration, which means dropping the inessential and petty and is, consequently, perceived as a productive narration. Everyday reality emerges as something that may be perceived as visible existence, which upon some consideration may reveal unique dimensions and gain particular significance based on intermediary space between what is perceived by the eye and the invisible, actualized by the inner vision. Such reflexive vision transcends the limits of things, transforming them and constituting new reality. Such is the underlying principle that the writer used to recreate everyday life in his works.

This article aimed to show the existence of gender concepts in the culture and settlement of the Dawan tribe in Kaenbaun Village, as indicated with its strong presence in the everyday life of the community, including the formal and ritual aspects. The concept exists in the inner world and mindset of every villager and has also become the guiding element of their world view, behaviour, place arrangement, and living space structures. This study was, there, conducted using participatory observation based on the Husserlian phenomenology paradigm supported by the inductive-empirical and qualitative descriptive methods to discover and understand the gender concept as well as its application and background in the selected tribe. The results showed the fetomone gender concept has become a paradigm of the thought expressed broadly and consistently through words, behaviour, as well as place and spatial arrangements among the villagers. Its function and meaning were further clarified in relation to the life and settlement architecture of the people. The core principle observed to be behind the concept is the separation and integration of life elements in an intense and permanent mutualism symbiotic relationship. Therefore, it was necessary to research the concept, function, and meaning of gender in ethnic cultures throughout Indonesia in order to form a collection of knowledge on gender and spatial planning which is useful to the understanding of ethnic settlements’ uniqueness based on local or ethnic perspectives and their preservation.

The article examines Askold Melnyczuk’s novel "What is Told". It focuses on the concept of the foreign land and the identity of a foreigner. The author used the theoretical approach of Yu. Kristeva that deals with the peculiarities of the foreigner’s worldview and her/his attitudes to the new surroundings. Yu. Kristeva considers that patience and humility determine the existence of newcomers. At the same time, their inner world is full of melancholy and longing for the idealized in their imagination abandoned land. The author of the article considered different types of geographical spaces: the mythologized town of Rozdorizzhya, where the identity of the main characters was formed, camps for temporarily displaced persons and the New World. The space of ancestors and the space of the new land are in opposition in the imagination of the main character Arkadyi. America is a technology while left behind the village in Polissya region is a deep province. The idea of a foreign land as a locus of freedom and self-realization changes after the characters arrive in the United States. Only the habitus of the Ukrainian community remains safe and understandable for newcomers. The identity of a stranger and the bitter realization of deprivation cause constant characters’ inner anxiety. They seek recognition at the individual level as well as at the collective level. However, America prefers to absorb the diversity of collectivities and creates a new community based on them. In Melnyczuk’s novel, a foreign land remains strange to Ukrainian migrants. After many decades of living in the new territory, they still dream of the abandoned Rozdorizzhya, which in their memory has become almost an image of paradise. An offspring of migrants born in the United States is integrated into the new reality. Bo Voroh does not feel melancholy and longing for the country from which his parents come. It exists for him as a myth or fiction, which his mother and father cannot abandon.
