Paraindopamphantus gen. nov., containing one species, I. bruneiensis sp. nov., is reported from Brunei, as the first member of the subfamily Pamphantinae from South East Asia and the second from the Oriental Region. The strikingly myrmecomorphic P. bruneiensis, collected only from Bukit Sulang, nr Lamunin in Brunei in the canopy of Shorea johorensis Foxw. (Dipterocarpaceae) tree by insecticide fogging is described and illustrated. The genus is placed in tribe Indopamphantini, that at present contains only other genus Indopamphantus Malipatil recorded from the Western Ghats of India. The significance of the habitus and myrmecomorphy of this species, in relation to Indopamphantus makutaensis Malipatil, is discussed. A key to the two genera of Indopamphantini is provided.

The periodicity of leaf change and flowering and fruiting of tropical trees is discussed. Cambial activity patterns in tropical trees are reviewed. Emphasis is put on research undertaken in South-East Asia on the most important timber tree family in that region, the Dipterocarpaceae. There is an urgent need for more information on the effects of rainfall patterns and phenological periodicity on cambial activity and ring formation in this family

The genus Euhemicera Ando, 1996 (Tenebrionidae: Cnodalonini) is recorded from Myanmar for the first time. The newly identified representatives of this genus are described herein as Euhemicera amicorum sp. n.. An updated species catalogue of Euhemicera with distributional data is provided. Currently, one hundred species are known to represent this genus. Available data reveals that Euhemicera is widely distributed throughout the oriental region, with the highest diversity in South East Asia.

Ochralea was described by Clark in 1865 for a very large Oriental galerucine with elongate basal metatarsomeres. Subsequently, nigh more species were described in this genus. It was synonymised with Monolepta by Weise in the Catalogue to the Galerucinae in 1924, and accepted as such by most subsequent authors. Whilst revising the type species of Monolepta, M. bioculata (Fabricius, 1781), it became clear that Ochralea was a distinct genus. The revalidation and redescription of this genus, containing two valid species, is here proposed. Ochralea nigripes (Olivier, 1808) has one recognised junior synonym and Ochralea nigricornis Clark, 1865, and two new synonyms Ochralea pectoralis Harold, 1880 syn. nov. and Monolepta erythromelas Weise, 1922 syn. nov. This species is abundant and widely distributed in south-east Asia from Bengalia and Bangladesh to southern China, the Philippines and Sulawesi. Ochralea wangkliana (Mohamedsaid, 2005) comb. nov., is only known from a few specimens collected around Wang Kelian Perlis, Malaysia. Redescriptions of the genus and the two species are given, including illustrations of external and genital characters, and a distribution map.
