Introduction Major facial defect has been a challenging case for plastic surgeons in terms of wound healing and covering technique for a long time. Methods Eight faciocervicopectoral (FCP) flaps were performed for reconstruction of major cheek defects due to handmade explosive and gun injuries. They were evaluated perioperatively and postoperatively with regard to operative time and operative blood loss as well as the function and cosmetic appearance. Results The technique showed marvellous cosmetic results but encountered minor postoperative flap complications. Conclusions The FCP flap is one of the best solutions for coverage of a simple or complex cheek defect. Application of the FCP flap is easy and rapid.

The normal development of the face relies upon the correct morphogenesis of structures in utero that usually occurs within the first trimester of embryonic life. The face is a very complex structure involving many genes and factors and with it being such a crucial part of life, both physically and aesthetically and therefore mentally, its important for everything to be just right. However, when the normal process doesn’t go to plan this results in dysmorphogenesis, which cleft lip and palate (CLP) is an example of as the lip/palate doesn’t fuse together and the infant is left with a gap. Although the exact cause of CLP is unknown, it is thought to be a mixture of genetics, environment and the teratogens the mothers are exposed to within the environment. This report will demonstrate the normal development of the face for the purpose of understanding how it goes wrong, resulting in CLP. Since there is still a lot to be understood about CLP it will also shed light on recent advances in relating SHH and certain genes as a possible cause for this dysmorphogenesis. The report will also briefly look at the relation of CLP with the genes associated with syndromic and non-syndromic diseases and the different types of CLP. There are many other facial defects that are a result of dysmorphogenesis, however as CLP is one of the most common yet poorly understood facial defect, it will be the main focus of this report.

Abstract Purpose to assess the role of the role of MR defecography in assessment of pelvic floor failure . Methods and Material Thirty-six patients (twenty-seven female and nine male) with female and male patients, complaining of stress urinary incontinence, constipation, fecal incontinence or pelvic organ prolapse. Results MRI revealed 18 cystocele (50%), compared to physical examination 2 cases(5.6%),MRI revealed 28 rectocele ( 77.8%) compared to physical examination that showed 13 (36.1%) , MRI revealed 10 uterine descent (40.7%), compared to physical examination 6 (22.2%) I, MRI revealed 7 enterocele (19.4%) compared to physical examination that was negative. MRI revealed level I/II facial defect in and level III facial defect in, 19 cases of Intussusception (52.8%), urethral hypermobility in 14 (38.9%), sphincteric defect 7 (19.4%), levator angle weakness in 30 cases (83.3%), iliococcygeaus muscle tear in 5 cases (13.9%), puborectalis tear in 3 cases (8.3%),anorectal decent in 26 cases (72.2%), genital hiatus width in 23 (63.9%) Conclusion Dynamic MR imaging is a necessary tool in the diagnosis of multicompartment pelvic organ prolapse and it provides good concordance with clinical examination

Insufficient knowledge of medical chemicals and their improper use have destructive effects. Accidental exposure to chemicals on facial tissue may result in large facial defect. For ages the tradition of piercing nose is common but improper use of unknown chemical for piercing has deleterious effect. Mostly rhinectomy defects are acquired caused by trauma or malignant diseases. Prosthetic rehabilitation is the preferred treatment of choice for any large rhinectomy defects as medical and surgical interventions are ineffective in developing esthetics. Main concern with the prosthesis for such defects is retention. This article describes rehabilitation of a patient with large size nasal defect created by chemical burn in childhood during piercing. Implant retained customized silicone nasal prosthesis was fabricated using simple O-ring attachments and innovative modified polyamide acrylic resin substructure acting as skeleton.
