Results of copper and lead recovery from discarded printing circuit boards (PCB) by acidic dissolution and electrodeposition are presented. A preliminary procedure of the recovery process is proposed with the following steps: disposal of the mounted electrical elements, cleaning, grinding, iron separation for grains screening, metal dissolution, and electrolysis. The composition analysis is performed to define suitable electrochemical parameters for recovery. XRF and AAS techniques are used for preliminary estimation of metal content in leached solution. LSV method is implemented to establish parameters for copper electrodeposition. The product quality is evaluated through XRD analysis. The high recovery efficiencies, 97.61% and 96.59 % for copper (in metallic form) and lead (in dioxide form), respectively, were reached.

Purpose Person-centered care shifts the focus of treatment away from the traditional medical model and moves toward personal choice and autonomy for people receiving health services. Older adults remain a priority for person-centered care because they are more likely to have complex care needs than younger individuals. Even more specifically, the assessment and treatment of swallowing disorders are often thought of in terms of setting-specific (i.e., acute care, skilled nursing, home health, etc.), but the management of dysphagia in older adults should be considered as a continuum of care from the intensive care unit to the outpatient multidisciplinary clinic. In order to establish a framework for the management of swallowing in older adults, clinicians must work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team using current evidence to guide clinical practice. Private practitioners must think critically not only about the interplay between the components of the evidence-based practice treatment triad but also about the broader impact of dysphagia on caregivers and families. The physical health and quality of life of both the caregiver and the person receiving care are interdependent. Conclusion Effective treatment includes consideration of not only the patient but also others, as caregivers play an important role in the recovery process of the patient with swallowing disorders.

Summary1. Platelet suspensions were exposed to hypotonic stress. Several parameters of the changes in light absorbance were investigated i. a. the initial decrease in absorbance (Amin), the maximal rate of the recovery process (Vmax), and the value of the absorbance two hours after mixing the platelet suspension with the hypotonic solution.2. The ratio Vmax/Amin appeared to be independent of both platelet concentration and, within a specific range, decrease in osmolarity.3. Cryoprotectants appeared to disturb the response to hypotonic stress.4. Cryopreservation caused a decrease in the light absorbance of the platelet suspension, of Amin, and of the recovery process.
