With the improvement of China's international status, integrated transport concept has become firmly rooted. Integrated urban rail transport system as part of comprehensive transportation has become an important means to ease urban traffic problems, is not only an urgent demand for transport services and residents, but also the need to build a conservation-oriented society. In this paper, for the current problems of urban transport ,research on building the rail transportation system of Hohhot, considering from the city policy, technology, economics, management aspects, etc., demonstrate the reasonableness of the transport system construction, technically advanced and the economic viability and feasibility of construction management while analyzing factors affecting the construction of rail transportation system, thus providing a scientific basis for investment and decision-making.

As car ownership soars, traffic congestion and its associated negative impacts have become real concerns in many cities around the world. Therefore, transportation systems that perform better in eliminating or reducing traffic congestion and related problems to tolerable levels have become imperative. Alternative transit systems should be assessed properly to accommodate the expected demand in the long term, at least, to some significant extent. However, this is generally neglected in developing countries and, among many possible alternatives, a popular transportation system is usually preferred within the available budget. As an example, Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, Turkey, has recently implemented a light rail transportation system (LRT) on its major east–west corridor as the main transit system. In this study, the existing LRT is assessed and its performance is compared with a hypothetical bus rapid transit (BRT) system, which is a strong contender and comparatively a lower-cost alternative. This is done to assess whether the LRT was the better choice in relation to the current demand. Therefore, in this study, the existing LRT system is first defined in the PTV VISSIM simulation environment. Then, the hypothetical BRT system is considered on the same route with the current demand. The capability and capacities of the existing LRT and the BRT system are assessed and compared in many aspects. The results are compared, and important findings are outlined.

Through the identification of the risk factors affecting the total repurchase price in BT project of the urban rail transit, we obtain data by questionnaires and make cluster analysis on all risk variables. Then select the key risk factors that affect total repurchase price, which play a guiding role for controlling the total repurchase price in the BT project of urban rail transportation.

Heavy traffic consequences in crowded cities can be extremely reduced by using mass transportation. Recent extensive studies on Tehran subway system, as a representative of crowded cities, show that ever increasing commutation demand results in rapid decline in service quality and satisfaction level, system capacity wastage, and poorer system performance. Since passenger boarding/alighting period is noticeable compared to the inter-station travel time, it seems that passenger boarding/alighting management would play a significant role in system performance improvement. Aiming at increasing satisfaction level and service success rate, while reducing travel time, different boarding/alighting strategies are proposed. Passengers behaviors are carefully simulated based on a microscopic model, through introducing an inclination function which governs a passengers movement in a two-dimensional queue. Simulation results, in terms of three aforementioned measures of performance, show that in less crowded stations, the first strategy, expectedly, outperforms the other two. However, in crowded stations (e.g. interchange stations) the third strategy outperforms the others significantly.
