Enterprise education and training play a pivotal role in bridging workforce skills and improving the performance of small businesses. Considering the significant role of small businesses, this study attempts to investigate how small manufacturing units improve their performance using training methods. Therefore, for this study mixed-method approach was adopted to find the relationship between both variables. In the first part of the methodology, face to face, and semi-structured interviews were conducted with business owners and managers. Furthermore, survey questionnaires were carried out to find the relationship between both variables. For a mixed-method approach, 26 owners/managers were interviewed, and 136 respondents were identified from food and furniture manufacturing units with several employees who comes on the definition of small firms. The results of the study confirm in small firms positively impacted the individual performance and overall non-financial turnover of employees. The study concludes with future recommendations for academicians and policymakers.

This research aims to know, analyse, and explain:  The extent of the relationship between education level and training on competency of participants graduates.  Partial influence between the level of education and training on the competence of graduates of participants.  Simultaneous influence between the level of education and training on the competence of graduates of participants. Data collection techniques using questionnaire and literature. The population in this research is a participant who graduated at PT Satria Tamtama Rahayu and has been placed in the industrial company with samples used as many as 135 respondent. Data obtained from respondents was processed using test aids using IBM SPSS 22. The results showed that:) There was an influence on the level of education on the competency of participant graduates. There is no training influence on the competency of participant graduates.  There are influences on the level of education and training on the competency of participant graduates. The value of coefficient of determination (R2) amounted to 0,662 or66,2% which means that 66,2% of participants graduates competencies are influenced by education and training levels, while the remaining 33,8% are influenced by other variables not examined in this study. The current study examined the impact of vocational education and training in the custody setting on returns to custody among Australian adult prisoners from selected jurisdictions. Vocational education and training, education, and behavioural change programme participation in custody and demographic and risk assessment data were provided by correctional services in four Australian states for 10,834 Australian prisoners released from custody in 2010–2011. This information was used to predict returns to custody by 2015–2016. Overall, the results showed that participating in vocational education and training in custody contributed to the likelihood of remaining custody free at two and five years post-release for both male and female prisoners. However, for males the relationship was moderated by risk level. These findings are discussed in the context of developing vocational education and training in prison settings to address the specific needs of individuals and expectation of the wider community.

The authors examine the Greek public tourism education and training system and its structure in order to identify whether there is a need for restructuring and development. To this end, they assess the relationship between the knowledge and skills provided and the requirements of the labour market and the needs of tourism enterprises with regard to specialized personnel. First, they outline the current situation in the Greek public tourism education and training system. They then describe a primary research project carried out (a) among graduates of tourism studies from all educational levels and (b) among tourism executives (directors and personnel managers). The data analysis suggests that the present level of tourism education in Greece is considered satisfactory. However, there is a perceived need for more practice-oriented elements in the curriculum and it is suggested that tourism education departments should restructure their curricula with a view to introducing more practical work, more educational visits to firms and industrial placements of longer duration. The tourism education system in general also needs to be better articulated, preferably with just one overseeing authority. Finally, collaboration between educational institutions and tourism-related bodies, both state-owned and private-sector, is to be encouraged as it will bring benefits to curriculum content and the matching of tourism qualifications with current industry needs.
