Management education: A proposal for engineers and technologists

This paper presents some personal views of the author on management education and on the education of engineers and technologists. It looks at the relationship between education and training for these two groups. It describes a need for action in the provision of management education and proposes an experimental centre to undertake the kind of education that is beyond the means of engineering departments and business schools.

The need for new ways of providing management education and training in the UK has arisen out of a concern to improve the country's competitiveness in world economics. MBAs have been offered by UK business schools for over 20 years. Now, the growth of distance learning provision offers an opportunity to rethink some of the approaches to this generic form of management development. This article examines distance learning MBAs and analyses their value in relation to that of the on-campus version.

This research aims to know, analyse, and explain:  The extent of the relationship between education level and training on competency of participants graduates.  Partial influence between the level of education and training on the competence of graduates of participants.  Simultaneous influence between the level of education and training on the competence of graduates of participants. Data collection techniques using questionnaire and literature. The population in this research is a participant who graduated at PT Satria Tamtama Rahayu and has been placed in the industrial company with samples used as many as 135 respondent. Data obtained from respondents was processed using test aids using IBM SPSS 22. The results showed that:) There was an influence on the level of education on the competency of participant graduates. There is no training influence on the competency of participant graduates.  There are influences on the level of education and training on the competency of participant graduates. The value of coefficient of determination (R2) amounted to 0,662 or66,2% which means that 66,2% of participants graduates competencies are influenced by education and training levels, while the remaining 33,8% are influenced by other variables not examined in this study. Based on the criteria set of samples so the sample is taken from 50 people. The result shows a good indicator of education and training as well as the performance obtained good grades,means by getting employees follow the training will be followed by increasing in performance, because in general training followed by civil servantsat the Religion Ministry in Seluma Districtisa training to in crease knowled geandinsight about jobs and regulations relating to the dutiesand functions of each principal.Kata kunci: Pendidikan dan Pelatihan, Kinerja Pegawai

The current study examined the impact of vocational education and training in the custody setting on returns to custody among Australian adult prisoners from selected jurisdictions. Vocational education and training, education, and behavioural change programme participation in custody and demographic and risk assessment data were provided by correctional services in four Australian states for 10,834 Australian prisoners released from custody in 2010–2011. This information was used to predict returns to custody by 2015–2016. Overall, the results showed that participating in vocational education and training in custody contributed to the likelihood of remaining custody free at two and five years post-release for both male and female prisoners. However, for males the relationship was moderated by risk level. These findings are discussed in the context of developing vocational education and training in prison settings to address the specific needs of individuals and expectation of the wider community.
