A decision support system (DSS) that has been designed to manage patients using a home telehealth system is presented. The DSS has been developed to assist home telehealth clinical support staff with their workload, and to provide more effective communication between multiple home telehealth users. The three-tier system architecture that consists of a data layer; a business logic layer; and a front-end layer employs business processes and uses a rule engine for its logic and knowledge base. This paper discusses the design considerations involved in the construction of a DSS for the purpose of home telehealth, and illustrates how it may be developed using entirely open source software.

The Multicriteria Assessment Methodology of the Decision Support System Implementation EffectivenessThe multi-criteria assessment methodology of implementation effectiveness of information systems illustrated by an example of decision support system (DSS) realized in w information technologies is presented in the article. The assessment of DSS under consideration takes place using the knowledge recorded in the form of fuzzy neural network, collected in an enterprise, on the basis of earlier realized implementations of other information systems. A model of retrieved DSS is expressed by means of a set of functionalities serving business processes of the enterprise under consideration. A model of implementation undertaking determined by means of a set of preparatory actions for the implementation and a set of directly implementation and exploitation actions is built for the retrieved DSS as well. Furthermore, a vector determining a current and planned implementation state of a set of DSS functionalities in the enterprise at time moments, before and after the commencement of planned implementation of the retrieved DSS is built. A concept of trapezoidal fuzzy numbers is used in building DSS models. An adjustment of fuzzy parameters of DSS models takes place by means of geometrical method of maximum absolute error points. A presented methodology enables to execute a multi-criteria effectiveness assessment of planned undertaking in relation to subjective criteria established by the enterprise (preferred time, cost and values of priority indexes). Additionally, the knowledge collected on the basis of earlier realized implementations of information systems and applied imprecise description of parameters taking into account errors made in their estimation in the past is used.

The goal of this chapter is to describe a set of concepts for the design of information systems supporting the global decision process in an organization from a management point of view. Managers are responsible for decisions that are crucial for the success of the organization. Supporting decision taking by management in an integrated way means to support the global decision process of the organization and increase its efficiency and resilience. The system is envisaged so that i) each manager has available a decision dashboard to support the flux of decision-making for which he or she is responsible; ii) the dashboards also allow managers to crowdsource from non-managers different aspects of decision iii) the dashboards are connected in a conversational network; iv) this conversational network is so structured to support the global decision process of the organization.

The possibilities of using nanomaterials and nanocoatings for machine building are considered. The review of software for engineering calculations of welding processes and heat treatment is carried out. A decision support system for choosing a rational amount of nanostructured modifier powders for welding corrosion-resistant steels is proposed.
