Introducing Graphic Designers in a Web Development Process

In recent time, the evolution of web applications have gained importance over the web development process and the factor of web evolution cannot be ignored by web developers. Web development has become complex and challengeable for web developers. The process of software evolution played an important role during the development of the software. Millions of web application have been developed every year around the world It has included various approaches, tools, and frameworks to reorganize the web applications with an improved version. Research has been shown that there are no proper and systematic techniques is available for evolving web applications. This special article has been written to make a comparative analysis of WordPress and Django web framework using Lehman’s laws of software evolution. It has been found that the six out of eight Lehman’s laws found valid during the evolution process for web frameworks.

Faculty in the Computer Information Systems department at the authors’ institution is in the process of developing a new Computer Information Systems degree with several areas of emphasis. One of the proposed areas of emphasis will be to prepare students for a career as a web developer. As part of the curriculum development process, the authors collected data regarding the current demand for web developers, the education level requested, salaries, and the specific skills employers are demanding. The research process included reading and recording the education level, experience, and specific skills employers are requesting for hundreds of jobs that have been posted on the Internet within the last few months. Additionally, data was gathered from other sources including courses and programs offered at other institutions of higher education. Using this data, a model curriculum for a degree leading to a career in the field of web development is proposed.

Objective of the Book: Considering the involvement of multiple disciplines (software, hardware, computer interfacing, Web development, Web security, user interface, and learning management), the development process for an Internet accessible remote laboratory is complex. In the absence of any common framework, each development initiative starts from scratch and there is difficulty in transferring and integrating technologies from one laboratory implementation to another. The proposed book is a timely effort to collect current developments in this area, as well as offer some suggestions for future direction, while providing a benchmark for the community. The editors will take every effort to gather contributions from all the major players in this field to foster wider collaboration within the community.

This chapter is an effort to develop secure web applications based on known vulnerabilities. It has been seen that in the rapid race of developing web applications in minimum time and budget, security is given the least importance, and a consequence of which is that web applications are developed and hosted with a number of vulnerabilities in them. In this race, one thing is constant that attackers take advantage of weaknesses existing in technology for financial gain and theft of intellectual property. In this proposed method of secure web development, most common vulnerabilities and their occurrence in development process is discussed. Mapping vulnerabilities to the actions needed to take during development process may help developers to understand vulnerability and avoid vulnerabilities in application.
