Oversaturation in the modern urban traffic often happens. In order to describe the degree of oversaturation, the indexes of intersection oversaturation degree are put forward include dissipation time, stranded queue, overflow queue and travel speed. On the basis of selected indexes, the genetic algorithm support vector machine (GA-SVM) model was proposed to quantify the degree of oversaturation. In this method the genetic algorithm is used to select the model parameters. The GA-SVM model built is used to quantify the degree of oversaturation. Combining with the volume of intersections in Guangzhou city the method is calculated and simulated through programming. The simulation results show that GA-SVM method is effective and the accuracy of GA-SVM is higher than support vector machine (SVM).This method provides a theoretical basis for the analysis of traffic system under over-saturated traffic conditions.

The aim of the study is to verify the thesis about the influence of the vehicle speed on the exhaust emissions. The influence of the speed on the fuel consumption is quite easily measurable and generally possible to identify, while determining the emissions of harmful substances requires specialized research equipment. The analysis is important from the point of view of the vehicle operation. The paper presents the results of the road tests of a car fitted with a diesel engine. It contains the results of measurements of the concentration of the exhaust components. In the measurements, PEMS portable equipment was used. The study was conducted under actual traffic conditions (motorway driving) on a selected portion of the A2 motorway, located near Poznan.

Enhancements were provided to a previously developed genetic algorithm (GA) for traffic signal optimization for oversaturated traffic conditions. A broader range of optimization strategies was provided to include modified delay minimization with a penalty function and throughput maximization. These were added to the initial delay minimization strategy and were further extended to cover all operating conditions. The enhanced program was evaluated at different intersection spacings. The optimization strategies were evaluated and compared with their counterpart from TRANSYT-7F, version 8.1. A microscopic stochastic simulation program, CORSIM, was used as the unbiased evaluator. Hypothesis testing indicated that the GA-based program with average delay minimization produced a superior signal-timing plan compared with those produced by other GA strategies and the TRANSYT-7F program in terms of queue time. It was also found from the experiments that TRANSYT-7F tended to select longer cycle lengths than the GA program to reduce random plus oversaturation delay.

Tumor targeting has emerged as an advantageous approach to improving the efficacy and safety of cytotoxic agents or radiolabeled ligands that do not preferentially accumulate in the tumor tissue. The somatostatin receptors (SSTRs) belong to the G-protein-coupled receptor superfamily and they are overexpressed in many neuroendocrine tumors (NETs). SSTRs can be efficiently targeted with octreotide, a cyclic octapeptide that is derived from native somatostatin. The conjugation of cargoes to octreotide represents an attractive approach for effective tumor targeting. In this study, we conjugated octreotide to cryptophycin, which is a highly cytotoxic depsipeptide, through the protease cleavable Val-Cit dipeptide linker using two different self-immolative moieties. The biological activity was investigated in vitro and the self-immolative part largely influenced the stability of the conjugates. Replacement of cryptophycin by the infrared cyanine dye Cy5.5 was exploited to elucidate the tumor targeting properties of the conjugates in vitro and in vivo. The compound efficiently and selectively internalized in cells overexpressing SSTR2 and accumulated in xenografts for a prolonged time. Our results on the in vivo properties indicate that octreotide may serve as an efficient delivery vehicle for tumor targeting.
