China's energy consumption is growing very rapidly and along with this are associated environmental problems. However, as per capita energy consumption in the country remains very low, ways must be found to allow continued rapid energy expansion at lower environmental costs. China stands committed to join global endeavours to met the dual challenges of energy development and environmental protection. This paper reviews China's energy and environment paths an implemented, planned and possible future actions to lessen energy-environmental tradeoffs.

When oil was discovered in commercial quantities at Prudhoe Bay on Alaska's North Slope in in 1969, the nation was experiencing a wave of popular support for environmental and conservation issues culminating in the passage of the National Environmental Protection Act of 1969 (NEPA). The transAlaska oil pipeline was the first significant test of that law, and national attention became focused on the immense construction project.

Abstract In this policy briefing we investigate 14 potential risks which could cause renewable energy development in Morocco to provoke a resource curse. We identify the biggest risks to be economic dependence, technical dependence, and damage to flora and fauna. Policy objectives are identified to prevent or mitigate these risks. These are: careful negotiation of robust co-funding arrangements to safeguard Moroccan autonomy; the development of local renewable energy technology capabilities; and continuation and enhancement of environmental protection mandates.

Subject Environmental protection. Significance Environmental protection has moved up Peru’s policy agenda, especially in the Amazon region. However, the government lacks the power -- and arguably still the will -- to enforce restrictions on uses that harm the environment, notably energy development and road building. Pressure for better environmental protection has hitherto come chiefly from abroad. Impacts Indigenous organisations will gain influence in the policy sphere. Extractive industries will come under pressure to adapt their practices to environmental norms. Climate change will force the government to take issues of deforestation more seriously.

In view of the current domestic new economic form, under the trend of sustainable development, new energy industry has become a rising star. The development of new energy can improve the environment destroyed by the development of fossil energy to a certain extent. It is the primary task of environmental protection and energy development to study the specific relationship between China’s current carbon emissions, economic growth and the development of new energy industry. Based on STR model, we can empirically study the impact of carbon emissions on the development of new energy industry, analyze the nonlinear relationship, and propose relevant strategies to promote the development of new energy industry and pay attention to the coordinated development of energy consumption and environmental protection.

The rapid development of the society and economy in China has led people’s standard of living to a higher level. However, the issues between energy development and environmental protection have become more pressing. In order to fundamentally solve the contradiction between environmental protection and energy development, it is necessary to deepen the awareness of protecting the environment and reasonably tap into the power of energy. Satisfy the two purposes, as in cherishing the environment and supplying energy for social development, at the same time. This paper provides an in-depth analysis of the problems of energy development and seeks a coordinated development path between energy development and environmental protection.
