The results of determination of parameters of porous structure of coal and char particles are presented. They were determined using gas adsorption method and thermal decomposition of particles in air oxygen. The porous structure parameters allow predicting char reactivity change at different temperatures as well as during conversion in accordance with Random Pore Model (RPM-model).

Abstract Advanced silica/lignosulfonate composites were obtained using magnesium lignosulfonate and silica precipitated in a polar medium. For comparative purposes analogous synthesis was performed using commercial silica Aerosil®200. Lignosulfonates are waste products of paper industry and their application in new multifunctional materials is of great economic interest. The composites obtained were subjected to thorough characterization by determination of their physicochemical, dispersive-morphological and electrokinetic properties. Their particle size distribution was measured, SEM images were taken, FT-IR analysis and colorimetric study were made, thermal and electrokinetic stabilities and parameters of porous structure were also determined. The results can be of interest in further application studies

In this paper have been presented a new model of the porous structure, as well as an analysis of possibilities of a new method for experimental investigation of porous permeable materials and determination of their structural characteristics. An analysis for the majority of used in analytical calculations geometric models for a porous medium has been presented, and a model for a porous material in the form of porous matrix’s elementary cells has been proposed. Each of the cells contains a capillary channel with a variable cross-section. Volumetric structural characteristics, as well as dependencies of surface structural characteristics over the porous matrix’s thickness, are identical to these parameters, which have been obtained during the experimental study of a porous material. As a result of use of an original experimental technology offered by authors, and of experiment processing the porous matrix’s structure can be completely defined. The problem of creating an experimental setup, allowing determine the porous matrix’s characteristics, has been formulated. One of possible options for the experimental stand has been considered.
