The objective of this paper is to compare two methods employed for solving nonlinear problems, namely the Adomian Decomposition Method (ADM) and the Homotopy Perturbation Method (HPM). To this effect we solve the Navier‐Stokes equations for the unsteady flow between two circular plates approaching each other symmetrically. The comparison between HPM and ADM is bench‐marked against a numerical solution. The results show that the ADM is more reliable and efficient than HPM from a computational viewpoint. The ADM requires slightly more computational effort than the HPM, but it yields more accurate results than the HPM.

An analysis of the laminar squeezing flow of an incompressible Newtonian fluid between parallel plane annuli is presented in which a successive approximation technique is used to account for fluid inertia effects. An expression for the force generated by the fluid is developed and coupled to the equation of motion for the annular plate. Results are presented from the numerical integration of the governing equations for the plate motion.

The aim of the present work is to analyze the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) squeezing flow through porous medium using homotopy analysis method (HAM). Fourth-order boundary value problem is modeled through stream functionψ(r,z)and transformationψ(r,z)=r2f(z). Absolute residuals are used to check the efficiency and consistency of HAM. Other analytical techniques are compared with the present work. It is shown that results of good agreement can be obtained by choosing a suitable value of convergence control parameterhin the valid regionRh. The influence of different parameters on the flow is argued theoretically as well as graphically.
