The paper considers techniques to develop a mathematical model using a method of «parallel compressors». The model is intended to estimate the impact of the air inlet distortion on the primary parameters of the aero-engine.  The paper presents rated estimation results in the context of twin spool turbofan design for two typical cruiser modes of flight of the supersonic passenger jet. In estimation the base values σbase and the average values of the inlet ram recovery σave remained invariable. Thus, parametrical calculations were performed for each chosen relative value of the area of low-pressure region. The paper shows that an impact degree of the inlet distortion on the engine thrust for two modes under consideration is essentially different. In other words, if in the subsonic mode the impact assessment can be confined only to taking into account the influence of decreasing average values of the inlet total pressure, the use of such an assumption in the supersonic cruiser mode may result in considerable errors. With invariable values of the pressure recovery factor at the engine intake, which correspond to the speed of flight for a typical air inlet of external compression σbase, and average value σave, a parameter Δσuneven  has the main effect on the engine thrust, and degree of this effect essentially depends on a difference between σave and σbase values.

Payment for physician services in the United States is directly tied to the payment system implemented in the Medicare system. The use of a code to categorize medical and surgical services, as well as a relative value system to assess physician services and reimburse them accordingly, is now well established. In light of this, it is important for physicians to possess knowledge of how this coding and reimbursement system was established, how it is updated, what means are available to modify it, and how it is used in practice. The author addresses these issues, offering a primer for the neurosurgeon on the Medicare system as it relates to physician payment.

Technological developments and financial innovations, especially in the payment system, have encouraged banks around the world to carry out a number of innovations that have resulted in a new paperless based financial system. The finding that the payment system innovation affects the circulation of money and the stability of the monetary condition of a country, makes this risk possible in Indonesia. By using the error correction model, this study can provide information on the short run dynamic relationship and the impact of payment system innovation represented by non cash payment instruments such as credit cards, debit cards, e-money and payment transaction settlement processes (national clearing system and real time gross settlement) on the velocity of money in Indonesia in the period 2016M1 to 2020M6. The results of the research findings state that the impact generated by the rapid velocity of payment system innovation on the velocity of money circulation is not temporary, this is evidenced by the effect of payment system innovation on the velocity of money circulation which continues over a long period of time.

This article analyses the importance of housing costs in cross-national comparisons of social assistance. The article explores the model family technique, the most commonly used method of comparing levels of support, and analyses the impact of housing costs on outcomes. The importance of housing costs is assessed by using different definitions of disposable income, by comparing the level of social assistance without, before and after housing costs. Three different rent levels are specified in order to evaluate the impact of housing costs and seven different family types are considered in the analysis. The countries used for comparison are Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Sweden, and the United Kingdom, during the late 1990s. The findings show that housing costs have an impact on outcomes in social assistance: when housing costs are disregarded, the differences between countries are greater. The outcomes vary with different calculations of disposable income: the relative value of assistance between countries and families varies, and the ranking of countries is also altered. Different levels of housing costs have a similar impact, showing changes in the relative position of countries. Overall the findings show that taking housing costs into account makes a difference.

Changes in healthcare have made it increasingly more important for neurosurgeons to understand the economic pressures that effect their reimbursement. Two fundamental concepts that are of the greatest importance are the Current Procedural Terminology coding and the Medicare Resource Based Relative Value Scale. The impact of these two entities on neurosurgical reimbursement in analyzed in this review.

Abstract The change from a predominately fee-for-service payment environment to managed care has significantly reduced revenues for many clinical laboratories. Medicare is rapidly becoming the most favorable payor in areas with high managed-care penetration. This trend has not gone unnoticed by Congress, and congressional and regulatory initiatives are rapidly moving to reduce federal laboratory reimbursement. The efforts by both the private and public payors to further restrict payments could have a profound effect on the scope of testing offered by hospital-based laboratories. On-site nonemergent testing capability will be dependent on the cost to provide the service and the level of reimbursement. Laboratory providers have an opportunity to influence the extent of laboratory cost-reducing initiatives. To effect congressional or regulatory change requires an understanding of the federal Medicare payment system and a well-organized effort.
