In order to determine the influence of climate and hydrology on water quality of the lower Mekong River, the long term monitoring data (from 1985 to 2004) of climatic, hydrological and water quality variables were analyzed. In general, water quality was ‘good’ or ‘very good’ for most of the investigated water quality parameters including DO, pH, conductivity, nitrate, phosphate and total phosphorus. All climatic and hydrological elements as well as most of the water quality parameters varied seasonally. Throughout the 18-year period, only evaporation, water level and TSS showed a significant pertinent trend. ARIMA models results reveal that among climatic and hydrological paremeters, water quality could be effectively predicted from the data of discharge flow and precipitation. The results showed good R2 (≥0.7) estimation between predicted and observed values for TSS, alkalinity and conductivity which are the chemically and biologically conservative parameters. For other water quality parameters such as Ca2 + , Mg2 + , Si, Cl−, NO3−, and SO42−, the predicting results by ARIMA model were reliable in shorter period than the above three mentioned variables.

Nowadays, with developing all over country of aquaculture, basa catfish in the Mekong River delta, included An Giang province, has kept important position and contributed to economic development in the area. However, aquaculture activities has faced with environmental risk and aquacultures diseases that cause quality of fish pond water has usually pollution and reducing total of basa fish yeild. The water and sludge samples were conducted for six months in order to carry out the current status of water quality of fish ponds at My Hoa Hung commune at Long Xuyen city. Based on analysis results, proposing establishment dada base and monitoring network of surface water by using GIS that were conducted to improve surface water quality and identify the risks that may cause damage the environmental of basa fish ponds in this reserach.

Urban development, agricultural runoff and industrialization have contributed pollution loading on the environment.  In this study Hemavathi river water from a stretch from its origin point to its sangama was studied for pollution load by determining parameters of water quality like pH, Alkalinity,  Ca, Mg, Nitrate, TDS, BOD, COD , and the results were compared with WHO and BIS standards to draw final conclusion on the quality of water.

Changes of microbial indices of water quality in the Vistula and Brda rivers as a result of sewage treatment plant operationThis paper reports the results of studies of microbiological changes in the water quality of the Vistula and Brda rivers after the opening of sewage treatment plants in Bydgoszcz. The study involved determining the microbiological parameters of water quality. Based on the results obtained, it was found that the quality of the water in both rivers had improved decidedly after the opening of the plants, although an increased number of individual groups of microorganisms was found at the treated sewage outlet from one of the plants.
