BiFeO3, BiFe0.9Ti0.1O3 and BiFe0.9Ti0.05O3 ceramics were prepared by solid state reactions and were compared in electrical and dielectric properties. The resistivity of BiFe0.9Ti0.05O3 was 1.3×1012 Ω cm, which was about two and a half orders of magnitude higher than that of BiFeO3. and three times higher than that of BiFe0.9Ti0.1O3. The dielectric loss of BiFe0.9Ti0.05O3 was 0.1 and 0.02 at 100Hz and 1MHz, respectively. These phenomena can be explained base on the decrease of oxygen vacancies VO•• and defect complexes between the ferrum vacancies VFe and oxygen vacancies VO•• in the ceramics.

Abstract Barium Strontium Titanate exhibits ferroelectric or paraelectric behaviour that depends upon the composition and other factors, making it suitable for a number of applications. We have adopted conventional solid state reaction route to synthesize magnesium substituted barium strontium titanate with low concentration of Mg (Mg= 0.005, 0.010 and 0.015). X-ray diffraction has confirmed the perovskite cubic single phase. The dielectric studies were carried out as a function of temperature at different fixed frequencies (1kHz, 10kHz, 50kHz and 100kHz) and as a function of frequency at room temperature. The Curie’s temperature of pure BST was 96°C and for Mg substituted BST samples it dropped from 85°C to 63°C. The dielectric permittivity firstly suppressed and then maximum value observed for Mg content 0.015 and dielectric loss is also less than one. The remanance (Pr) and coercivity (Ec) are obtained and analysed for ceramics samples. Improvement in dielectric properties due to substitution of Magnesium is observed.

The effects of 3Z2B addition on the microwave dielectric properties and the microstructures of (1-x)(Mg0.95Co0.05)TiO3-xCa0.6La0.8/3TiO3ceramics prepared with conventional solid-state route have been investigated. Doping with 3Z2B can effectively promote the densification and the microwave dielectric properties of (1-x)(Mg0.95Co0.05)TiO3-xCa0.6La0.8/3TiO3ceramics. It was found that (1-x)(Mg0.95Co0.05)TiO3-xCa0.6La0.8/3TiO3ceramics can be sintered at 1150°C due to the liquid phase effect of 3Z2B additions observed by SEM. TheQ×fvalue of (1-x)(Mg0.95Co0.05)TiO3-xCa0.6La0.8/3TiO3ceramics decreased with increasing 3Z2B content. At 1150°C, 0.9(Mg0.95Co0.05)TiO3-0.1Ca0.6La0.8/3TiO3ceramics with 1.0wt% 3Z2B addition possesses a εrvalue of 22.6, a Qfvalue of 49,000 (GHz) and a τfvalue of-10.7 ppm/°C.

In this work, the influence of zinc doping on structural and dielectric properties of CaCu(3-x)ZnxTi4O12 (CCZxTO with x = 0, 2.5, 5, 7.5, 10, 12.5 and 15%) ceramics sintered at 1000 ºC for 8 h was studied. The ceramic samples were prepared by the conventional solid-state and calcined at 1050 ºC for 4 h. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis of pure and Zn-doped CCTO were analyzed by using Rietveld refinement with cubic CCTO phase with no trace impurity phase. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) investigation showed that for Zn-doped CCTO, the grains distributions were homogenous with average sizes which decreased with increasing of Zn concentration. The dielectric permittivity as function of temperature showed two dielectric anomalies (weakly and strong) and the dielectric constant value largely decreased for x = 2.5%, which is about tree magnitude smaller than the pure ceramic. Then it increased and reached a maximum at x = 10%, which is larger than the value of pure ceramic. And for x > 10%, the dielectric constant decreased for about two magnitude smaller than the ceramic at x = 10%. The cole-cole diagramm for all the samples showed existence of two semi-arcs attributed to the grains and grains boundaries. It was found that the Rg values were much smaller than the Rgb value. This give an evidance on the formation of interior barrier layer capacity (IBLC).

The microstructure and dielectric properties of the (Ca0.3Sr0.1)Sm0.4TiO3 ceramics with various sintering conditions have been investigated. The compounds were prepared by the conventional solid-state route with various sintering temperatures from 1340 to 1400°C and sintering duration from 3 h. The resultant microwave dielectric properties were analyzed based upon the densification, the X-ray diffraction patterns and the microstructures of the ceramics. The correlation between the microstructures, the microwave dielectric properties and sintering behaviors was also examined. The εr value of 96.7 and Q×f value of 11,600 GHz were obtained for (Ca0.3Sr0.1)Sm0.4TiO3 ceramics sintering at 1370°C for 3 h. The (Ca0.3Sr0.1)Sm0.4TiO3 ceramics had suitable dielectric properties can find applications in microwave devices such as resonator, filter and antenna.
