Accurate prediction of the generation capacity of photovoltaic systems is fundamental to ensuring the stability of the grid and to performing scheduling arrangements correctly. In view of the temporal defect and the local minimum problem of back-propagation neural network, a forecasting method of power generation based on long short-term memory-back-propagation is proposed. On this basis, the traditional prediction data set is improved. According to the three traditional methods listed in this article, we propose a fourth method to improve the traditional photovoltaic power station short-term power generation prediction. Compared with the traditional method, the long short-term memory-back-propagation neural network based on the improved data set has a lower prediction error. At the same time, a horizontal comparison with the multiple linear regression and the support vector machine shows that the long short-term memory-back-propagation method has several advantages. Based on the long short-term memory-back-propagation neural network, the short-term forecasting method proposed in this article for generating capacity of photovoltaic power stations will provide a basis for dispatching plan and optimizing operation of power grid.

To protect the environment and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reducing greenhouse gas emissions has been actively promoted by global governments. Thus, clean energy, such as wind power, has become a very important topic among global governments. However, accurately forecasting wind power output is not a straightforward task. The present study attempts to develop a fuzzy seasonal long short-term memory network (FSLSTM) that includes the fuzzy decomposition method and long short-term memory network (LSTM) to forecast a monthly wind power output dataset. LSTM technology has been successfully applied to forecasting problems, especially time series problems. This study first adopts the fuzzy seasonal index into the fuzzy LSTM model, which effectively extends the traditional LSTM technology. The FSLSTM, LSTM, autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA), generalized regression neural network (GRNN), back propagation neural network (BPNN), least square support vector regression (LSSVR), and seasonal autoregressive integrated moving average (SARIMA) models are then used to forecast monthly wind power output datasets in Taiwan. The empirical results indicate that FSLSTM can obtain better performance in terms of forecasting accuracy than the other methods. Therefore, FSLSTM can efficiently provide credible prediction values for Taiwan’s wind power output datasets.

Load forecasting (LF) is essential in enabling modern power systems’ safety and economical transportation and energy management systems. The dynamic balance between power generation and load in the optimization of power systems is receiving increasing attention. The intellectual development of information in the power industry and the data acquisition system of the smart grid provides a vast data source for pessimistic load forecasting, and it is of great significance in mining the information behind power data. An accurate short-term load forecasting can guarantee a system’s safe and reliable operation, improve the utilization rate of power generation, and avoid the waste of power resources. In this paper, the load forecasting model by applying a fusion of Improved Sparrow Search Algorithm and Long Short-Term Memory Neural Network (ILSTM-NN), and then establish short-term load forecasting using this novel model. Sparrow Search Algorithm is a novel swarm intelligence optimization algorithm that simulates sparrow foraging predatory behavior. It is used to optimize the parameters (such as weight, bias, etc.) of the ILSTM-NN. The results of the actual examples are used to prove the accuracy of load forecasting. It can improve (decrease) the MAPE by about 20% to 50% and RMSE by about 44.1% to 52.1%. Its ability to improve load forecasting error values is tremendous, so it is very suitable for promoting a domestic power system.
