Although many studies have suggested that the relationship between different supply chain members significantly affects agricultural product quality, suppliers’ perceptions of fairness, which greatly influence their decisions on building the relationship quality, are often overlooked. Particularly, the empirical evidence to investigate the impacts of suppliers’ fairness on the relationship quality and the factors that affect the suppliers’ fairness is missing, and therefore this knowledge gap needs to be filled by new research. Herein, we conducted a survey of 450 agricultural product suppliers and systemically analyzed the impact of antecedents on fairness perception and the impact of fairness perception on relationship quality. In addition, we developed a structural equation model and found that information sharing and price satisfaction had significantly positive effects on procedural fairness and distributive fairness, respectively. Furthermore, our studies demonstrated that procedural fairness is more important in improving the relationship quality than distributive fairness. However, supplier dependence is another important impact factor, and it greatly decreases the positive effects of suppliers’ fairness on relationship quality. In summary, the study results provide several managerial implications and extend our understanding of the importance of suppliers’ fairness in the relationship quality, which involves product development with respect to the supplier’s performance.

Suppliers are important members of the agricultural product supply chain, and their behavior decisions may have a certain impact on the sustainable development of the agricultural product supply chain. From the perspective of agricultural product supplier trust, this paper studies the direct impact of agricultural product supplier trust on relationship quality and the indirect impact of supplier fairness perception on relationship quality. Based on the survey data of agricultural product suppliers, this paper uses the structural equation model method for empirical analysis. The analysis results show that fairness perception and trust perception have a significant positive impact on the quality of agricultural supply chain relationships, among which trust perception has a positive direct impact on the quality of agricultural supply chain relationships, while fairness perception has indirect influence on the quality of agricultural supply chain relationships through trust. In addition, information sharing, price satisfaction, income level and environmental certainty have a significant positive impact on suppliers’ fairness perception. Therefore, sellers comprehensively consider the fairness perception and trust perception of suppliers, which will help improve the relationship quality of the supply chain.

Purpose of Study: This study examines the impact of the perceptions of fairness among Libyan taxpayers in the Libyan income tax system, where a multidimensional model of justice was introduced. This extends the definition of justice from one to distributive fairness and procedural fairness, along with tax awareness and tax complexity as moderators’ variables. This study is one of the first studies that test the impact of tax awareness and tax complexity as moderators’ variables on tax compliance behavior in a country. Methodology: Despite the importance of collecting taxes from individual taxpayers, it is a little known about the behavior of tax compliance in general in the Libyan context. This is important for tax authorities to identify behavioral factors that may hinder the successful tax compliance so that remedial action can be taken to improve compliance behavior. It remains currently a severe challenge for the Libyan tax authorities. Results: The results of this research will contribute significantly to the paucity of current literature on the role of tax awareness and tax complexities as moderators’ variables on tax compliance behavior, particularly in developing countries. The serial exploratory search design will be used in this study. The sub-squares analysis will be used to analyze the surveys.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of fairness on relationship quality and re-contract intention in the foodservice franchise industry and this paper intends to delineate the implications of enhancing the mutual relationship between the franchisor and the franchisee in the future domestic foodservice franchise system. Design/methodology/approach To prevent the lack of reliability and to pursue the internal consistency of the measurement model, this study adopted SPSS (Ver.20.0) and derived Cronbach’s alpha. Additionally, this study conducted a confirmatory factor analysis by using AMOS (Ver.20.0) program to assess the unidimensionality of measurements. Finally, structural equation modeling was used to test the hypothesized research framework. Findings The results showed that distributive fairness and informational fairness increase the relationship quality, which franchisees perceive under the franchise system. Among the relationship quality factor, only the trust has a considerable impact on the (performance) re-contract intention. The effect of fairness on relationship quality does not show a statistically considerable difference between the two groups (global franchise vs domestic franchise). However, in terms of a global franchise, distributive fairness has a significant impact on relationship quality, whereas domestic franchise, distributive fairness directly affects performance (re-contract intention). Research limitations/implications This study provides readers with an effect of fairness in the franchise system. Results obtained in this study are useful for understanding the fairness and relationship quality in the franchise system. Practical implications Recently, as the foodservice franchise market is experiencing significant growth, government and franchise-related agencies are making considerable effort to improve the relationship between the franchisor and the franchisee and to offer a better system and policy concerning the protection of consumers. Government and franchise agencies should develop an adequate policy to improve the relationship between the franchisor and the franchisee by breaking away from the imprudent support. Originality/value This study investigates whether fairness in the franchise system has a significant effect on the relationship quality and the performance (re-contract intention) and provides implication about the mutual growth between franchisor and franchisee to the potential food service franchise in Korea.

Suppliers play an important role in the agricultural product supply chain and their behavior could influence significantly relationship quality of supply chain. However, the role performance of agricultural product suppliers is usually ignored, which affects the decision-making establishment of relationship quality among supply chain members. In addition, fairness perception by agricultural product suppliers will also affect the quality of supply chain relationships. This work takes the agricultural product supply chain as the research object and investigates how the supplier role performance affects the relationship quality of supply chain. An empirical study is conducted through questionnaire-related data based on the model. The research results show that supplier role performance has a significant positive effect on the relationship quality, and the distributive fairness of supplier has a significant intermediary effect on both supplier role performance and relationship quality of the supply chain. In addition, price satisfaction has a positive impact on commitments when considering the fairness perception of suppliers.

Suppliers are important members of the agricultural supply chain. Moreover, their behavior decisions may affect the sustainable development of the agricultural supply chain. Considering agricultural supplier trust, this study examines the direct impact of trust perception on relationship quality and the indirect impact of supplier fairness perception on relationship quality. Based on the survey data of agricultural product suppliers, this study uses the structural equation model method for empirical analysis. The analysis results show that both fairness perception and trust perception have a significant positive impact on the relationship quality of the agricultural supply chain. Trust perception particularly has a positive direct impact on the relationship quality of the agricultural supply chain, while fairness perception has an indirect influence on the relationship quality of the agricultural supply chain through trust perception. In addition, information sharing, price satisfaction, income level, and environmental certainty have a significant positive impact on suppliers’ fairness perception. Therefore, retailers comprehensively consider both fairness perception and trust perception of suppliers, which will help improve the relationship quality of the supply chain.

A series of six papers on “Youth Development in Europe: Transitions and Identities” has now been published in the European Psychologist throughout 2008 and 2009. The papers aim to make a conceptual contribution to the increasingly important area of productive youth development by focusing on variations and changes in the transition to adulthood and emerging identities. The papers address different aspects of an integrative framework for the study of reciprocal multiple person-environment interactions shaping the pathways to adulthood in the contexts of the family, the school, and social relationships with peers and significant others. Interactions between these key players are shaped by their embeddedness in varied neighborhoods and communities, institutional regulations, and social policies, which in turn are influenced by the wider sociohistorical and cultural context. Young people are active agents, and their development is shaped through reciprocal interactions with these contexts; thus, the developing individual both influences and is influenced by those contexts. Relationship quality and engagement in interactions appears to be a fruitful avenue for a better understanding of how young people adjust to and tackle development to productive adulthood.
