Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to identify and develop the structural relationship among the key drivers to control and enhance the supply management (SM) performance in Indian manufacturing environment. Design/methodology/approach – The drivers (i.e. sourcing alternatives and supplier selection, supplier development (SD), contract management (CM) and risk management (RM)) of SM were identified and SM integration model was proposed through literature review and in consultation with industry experts. The proposed model was validated by capturing experts’ view in Indian manufacturing environment. The strength of relationships between these drivers and on SM performance was also established using structural equation modeling. Findings – CM has positive direct effect on SM performance and two drivers (i.e. sourcing alternatives and supplier selection, and SD) have positive indirect effect mediated by CM. Whereas, RM has direct and indirect (mediated by CM) positive effect on SM performance in Indian manufacturing environment. Research limitations/implications – This model can be validated for manufacturing industries in other countries. Practical implications – This model provides a comprehensive relationship among four drivers of SM and shows the direction for designing and implementing appropriate policies in order to enhance the SM performance in Indian manufacturing environment. Originality/value – Although many issues related to SM have been widely researched, but no literature has been reported related to SM integration model consisting of its drivers in general and in Indian manufacturing environment in specific. The key drivers of SM were identified and their relative importance was analyzed in Indian manufacturing environment.

In effort to minimize project failures (time delay) arising from due to supplier selection errors that have an impact on low performance and low potential for successful projects. This study aims to find out how strong the influence of supplier selection is right and correlates with good performance so thatthe project's success can be achieved. By using the SEM (Structural Equation Modeling) method in a PLS (Partial Least Square) application by examining the relationship between factors on the criteria of quality supplier selection that is expected to have an impact on the performance of a good supplier, and later can be related to the potential success of the project. Test results on Bootstrapping obtained the value of T-Value and P-Value in the 1st Hypothesis, namely, T-Statistics 0.829 and P-Value 0.407, the supplier performance variable (X2) did not affect the project success variable (Y1). The second hypothesis is, with a T-Statistical value of 2.094 and a P-Value of 0.037, the Supplier Selection (X1) has a significant effect on the project success variable (Y1). The third hypothesis is, with a T-Statistic value of 8.306 and a value of P-Value 0,000, Supplier Selection (X1) has a significant effect on the Supplier Performance variable (X2).

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate as well as select various significant demand pull (DP) strategies affecting sustainable development (SD) in manufacturing organizations. The study deploys the structural equation modeling (SEM) technique to empirically validate the interrelationships between significant DP strategies and SD indicators in an SEM-DP Model. Design/methodology/approach Confirmatory factor analysis approach is applied to generate an effective SEM-DP model using the AMOS 21 (Analysis of Moment Structures) software. The data have been collected from different manufacturing organizations practicing DP strategies, using a well-framed DP questionnaire for the evolution of the SEM-DP model. Findings SEM of various DP strategies like stringent implementation of government regulations (SIGR), transforming capabilities, unionized labor (UL), and customer attributes (CA) toward achieving SD in manufacturing industries has been performed. The SEM-DP model has been planned and reports obtained before and after modification indices of the model are correlated, which further establishes improvements in the model’s effectiveness. The research concludes that significant DP strategies, namely, SIGR, UL, and CA support the manufacturing industries in accomplishing SD in terms of competitiveness, business performance enhancements, flexibility, customer satisfaction, and technological development. Research limitations/implications In the present study, contributions of DP practices are determined to accomplish SD in Indian manufacturing organizations only. Hence, the results obtained may need some modifications before applying to other countries. Moreover, issue-wise independent modeling can also be performed to assess the importance of DP practices under specific orientations. Social implications The results of various interrelationships among DP practices and SD indicators in the SEM-DP model portray the effectiveness of DP practices for achieving organizational goals and social commitments. Originality/value The outcomes of the study will help DP practitioners, organizational managers, and HR executives in the manufacturing industries to develop a clear understanding about the significant DP strategies to be followed holistically for accomplishing SD. The manufacturing enterprises will be able to frame and organize their policies, handle their UL issues and CA in a more appropriate way. Hence, the knowledge obtained from present study will help improve the overall performance of manufacturing industries involved in the present context.

The manufacturing enterprises will be able to frame or enhance their corporate strategies and innovative capabilities in a more appropriate way. Research limitations/implications In the present study, contributions of TP practices are determined to accomplish sustainable development in manufacturing industries. Otherwise, issue-wise independent modeling can also be performed to assess the importance of TP practices towards achieving quality and sustainable development under specific orientations. Practical implications The research gives priority to enhancement in the coordination among various TP practices and sustainable development parameters in the industries, to inculcate TP as a crucial strategy to meet challenges in global markets. Social implications It has been exhibited from model that adequate TP strategies can effectively contribute towards recognition of sustainable development to compete in the highly progressive markets. The results of various interrelationships among TP practices and sustainable development indicators in SEM-TP Model portray the effectiveness of TP practices for accomplishment of organizational and social ambitions. Originality/value The outcomes of the study will help organizational managers, HR executives and TP practitioners in manufacturing industries to know about the significant TP strategies to be followed holistically for achieving sustainable development.

It is shown that a minimal assumption should be added to the assumptions of Classical Test Theory (CTT) in order to have positive inter-item correlations, which are regarded as a basis for the aggregation of items. Moreover, it is shown that the assumption of zero correlations between the error score estimates is substantially violated in the population of individuals when the number of items is small. Instead, a negative correlation between error score estimates occurs. The reason for the negative correlation is that the error score estimates for different items of a scale are based on insufficient true score estimates when the number of items is small. A test of the assumption of uncorrelated error score estimates by means of structural equation modeling (SEM) is proposed that takes this effect into account. The SEM-based procedure is demonstrated by means of empirical examples based on the Edinburgh Handedness Inventory and the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire-Revised.

Abstract. Given the fact that most of the dark personality measures are developed based on data collected in low-stake settings, the present study addresses the appropriateness of their use in high-stake contexts. Specifically, we examined item- and scale-level differential functioning of the Short Dark Triad (SD3; Paulhus & Jones, 2011 ) measure across testing contexts. The Short Dark Triad was administered to applicant ( N = 457) and non-applicant ( N = 592) samples. Item- and scale-level invariances were tested using an Item Response Theory (IRT)-based approach and a Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) approach, respectively. Results show that more than half of the SD3 items were flagged for Differential Item Functioning (DIF), and Exploratory Structural Equation Modeling (ESEM) results supported configural, but not metric invariance. Implications for theory and practice are discussed.

Abstract. This study used a longitudinal data set of 5,672 adults followed for 50 years to determine the factors that influence adult trait Openness-to-Experience. In a large, nationally representative sample in the UK (the National Child Development Study), data were collected at birth, in childhood (age 11), adolescence (age 16), and adulthood (ages 33, 42, and 50) to examine the effects of family social background, childhood intelligence, school motivation during adolescence, education, and occupation on the personality trait Openness assessed at age 50 years. Structural equation modeling showed that parental social status, childhood intelligence, school motivation, education, and occupation all had modest, but direct, effects on trait Openness, among which childhood intelligence was the strongest predictor. Gender was not significantly associated with trait Openness. Limitations and implications of the study are discussed.
