Historically, creativity has been linked to mad geniuses. Different research studies explored the relationship between personality traits and creativity. Therefore, the aim of this study was to examine that whether there is a relationship between psychoticism and creativity. A cross sectional quantitative research design was employed to recruit online 200 university students from June 2020 to July 2020. Psychoticism sub scale of Eysenck Personality Questionnaire-revised short version (EPQRS) and Kaufman Domains of Creativity Scale (K-DOCS) were introduced to participants after obtaining an informed consent via Google Docx. Data were analyzed by using SPSS v.23. Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation and independent sample t-test were the main statistical tools used in this study. There was found a non-significant negative correlation between psychoticism and creativity. The level of psychoticism and creativity was significantly different in married and non-married participants. Psychoticism is viewed as a risk factor for developing psychosis (especially bipolar disorder and schizophrenia), criminality and psychopathy on negative extreme and linked to creativity on the positive extreme. Therefore, it will be helpful to eliminate the stigmatization attached to psychoticism personality trait by focusing on its positive extreme both for individual and social entities.

Objective: To analyze the clinical characteristics of abnormal personality and conduct disorders (CDs) in pediatric patients with vasovagal syncope (VVS).Methods: In this study, we recruited patients diagnosed with VVS at Children's Heart Center from January 2018 to December 2020. Healthy children were recruited as controls. The Eysenck Personality Questionnaire-Child edition (EPQ-C) and Achenbach Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) were used for the assessment. Results: One hundred and fifty-one VVS patients and 151 healthy controls were included in this study. Compared with the control group, patients in the VVS group had a higher incidence of abnormal personality and were more prone to suffer from CDs. Moreover, pediatric patients with VVS suffered more events of syncope recurrence if they had CDs.Conclusion: Abnormal personality and CDs are common clinical characteristics in pediatric patients with VVS.

Subway station emergencies are gradually increasing in China. The aim of this research is to study the effects of “Dist”, “Pedestrian flow” and “Crowd density” on the heterogeneity of passengers’ decision-making preference and explore the relationship between heterogeneity and personality. Firstly, a questionnaire of 20 emergency evacuation scenarios, that includes the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire, is designed. Secondly, the heterogeneity of passengers’ decision preference is quantified by the random parameter logit model. Finally, personality traits and influencing factors are used as abscissa and ordinate respectively, to study the relationship between personality traits and preference heterogeneity. The results show that the coefficients of “Dist”, “Pedestrian flow” and “Crowd density” are –0.101, 0.236 and –0.442 respectively, which are statistically significant. The proportion of extroverted passengers of the exit is 9% higher than that of introverted passengers when “Pedestrian flow” of the exit is greater than the average value, while the proportion of introverted passengers is 7% higher than that of extroverted passengers when “Crowd density” is smaller than the average value. The conclusion is that the three influence factors are random variables, and “Dist” shows the lowest level of heterogeneity. Extroverted passengers are more likely to follow a large crowd for evacuation, but introverted passengers are more likely to avoid crowded exits.

The I-PACE (interaction of person-affect-cognition-execution) model explains that the causes of addiction are the result of individual susceptibility (genetic and personality), psychopathological factors (negative emotions), and cognitive and affective factor interaction. The issue of smartphone addiction and its emerging effects are now becoming an essential social enigma. This study is aimed at exploring how personal, affective, cognitive, and execution factors accelerate the mechanism of smartphone addiction among international students. Randomly selected, six hundred international students have constituted the population for our study. All participants were asked to complete self-administered questionnaires. The questionnaire included demographics (gender, place of stay, educational level, and reason for smartphone usage), Mobile Phone Addiction Index, Loneliness Scale (UCLA), Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, Beck Depression Inventory, Perceived Stress Scale, Eysenck Personality Questionnaire, and Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS. 20.3% (n = 122) of international students are agonized with smartphone addiction, while 79.7% (n = 478) use smartphones at an average level. Students’ place of stay, neuroticism personality, social desirability, self-esteem, loneliness, depression, perceived stress, and passive coping are associated with smartphone addiction. Loneliness and depression show a strong positive significant correlation, among other variables while loneliness, neurotic personality, depression, low self-esteem, stress, and passive coping are risk factors for smartphone addiction. This study reveals that international students are a high-risk group for smartphone addiction. It has a great deal of impact on students’ behavior and psyche. Multiple social, psychological, affective, and cognitive factors affect smartphone addiction. It would be beneficial to direct the students to limit their phone usage and indulge in other healthy physical activities to complete academic goals.

The theoretical assumptions and research findings have established some connections between extraversion/introversion, and neuroticism on the one hand, and well-being on the other hand. There is scarce scientific literature specifying these connections in different social categories or their possible modification in different levels of such personality traits as psychoticism and social desirability. The goal of the current study was to specify if the relationships between extraversion, neuroticism and well-being varied, according to gender, age, degree of manifestation of psychoticism and social desirability. The sample consisted of 470 Bulgarians from 18 to 55 years old using Bulgarian adaptation of Eysenck Personality Questionnaire and a dichotomized analogous scale measuring subjectively assessed well-being. This study found that higher well-being was related to higher extraversion and lower neuroticism, no matter of gender, age, or the degree of manifestation of other personality traits such as psychoticism and social desirability. Social isolation during COVID-19 pandemic may reflect negatively on well-being, as due to various constraints the extrovert people limit their social contacts and because of increased emotional lability in emergency situations that deserves further being investigated.

Abstract Background Environmental psychological factors such as mood states can modify and trigger an organic response; depressive disorder is considered a risk factor for oncological development, leading to alterations both in the genesis and in the progression of the disease. Some authors have identified that personality relates to mood since a high score in neuroticism is associated with intense and long-lasting emotions of stress and therefore with the development of depressive behaviors. The objective of this study was to analyze the relationship between personality and depression in skin cancer patients. Methods A total of forty-seven clinically and histopathologically diagnosed patients were scheduled for an hour-long interview, during which they provided informed consent and sociodemographic information. The psychological questionnaires applied were the revised Eysenck Personality Questionnaire and the clinical questionnaire for the diagnosis of the depressive syndrome. Results The patient’s mean age was 66.5 years (SD ± 12.4) and the majority were diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma (70.2%). The frequency of anxious/depressive symptoms was 42.5%, with an increase in depression scores in the female gender (p < 0.001). Furthermore, a difference was found in the neuroticism dimension related to gender, with higher values in women (p = 0.002). Depressive symptomatologic portraits were correlated with the dimensions of neuroticism (p < 0.001, r = 0.705), psychoticism (p = 0.003, r = 0.422) and lying (p = 0.028, r = − 0.321). Conclusions Our results support the hypothesis that personality dimensions are related to the presence of anxiety/depressive symptomatology in patients with skin cancer, especially in the female gender. Highlighting the need for future research that delves into the implications at the psychological level, the quality of life, and the biological mechanisms that link personality and depressive symptoms in the development and evolution of skin cancer.

E-sports have grown in popularity on a worldwide scale. Recent assessments place the industry's value at more than $612 million, with operations spanning Europe, North America, and Asia's emerging economies. Nowadays, e-Sports are being hailed as a highly effective marketing channel for businesses. The current study attempted to analyze the personal profiles of e-sports players in order to offer them with marketing privileges that would enable them to promote their companies more effectively. Three self-report questionnaires were used to collect data: the Profile of Mood States, the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire, the Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire, and the Brand Personality Appeal Questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using appropriate transformations to provide a suitable format for implementing the corresponding machine learning algorithms available in the R software package. The findings of this study demonstrate, among other things, that mood state, emotional intelligence, and brand personality can all serve as critical variables and are prevalent in marketing literature covering a broad range of topics, including evidence that the mood state, emotional intelligence, and brand personality profiles of e-sports players can all serve as significant variables.

Abstract Background: The International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research proposed two types of medication adherence: initial and long-term. Initial adherence is a predictor of long-term adherence and thus is a crucial metric to explore and support. This study aimed to investigate initial medication adherence by psychiatric outpatients and relevant factors. Methods: The study surveyed psychiatric outpatients using a 30-day timely return visit rate (TRVR) after the first visit to indicate initial adherence. All participants agreed to engage in the self-designed survey and assessments of the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ) and Symptoms Checklist-90 (SCL-90). Clients who missed timely return visits received telephone follow-up to determine the main reasons. Results: The overall TRVR was 59.4%, and 40.6% of clients missed return visits. Logistic regression analysis revealed risk factors for initial adherence were work, tense family atmosphere, negative attitudes towards medication, higher EPQ psychoticism score, and lower SCL-90 phobic anxiety score. The main reasons given for non-timely return visits were improvement suggesting lack of need for a return visit, various limitations, no improvement, and side effects. Conclusion: Psychiatric outpatients had poor initial medication adherence related to multiple dimensional factors, including job, family, personality characteristics, mental status, and thoughts about mental illness and treatments.

Abstract Objectives: This study is aimed to examine the potential association between childhood trauma (CT) and personality traits among unaffected first-degree relatives (FDR, children or siblings of patients) of patients with major depressive disorder (MDD). Methods: The study consists of three groups: total 85 patients with MDD, 35 FDRs and 89 healthy control individuals (HC). The Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ) was used to assess childhood trauma and the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire used to assess personality traits. Results: By comparison made in personality traits, MDD patients exhibits some significant disparities to FDR and HC (p<0.05 for extraversion, neuroticism and psychoticism). Nevertheless, no significant difference was found between HC and FDR. In FDR group, patients with CT scored noticeably higher for neuroticism (N) compared with those without CT (F=3.246, p=0.046). CT was associated with N, psychoticism (P) and Lie (L), and it was associated with N more closely (r=0.290-0.452, p<0.05 for all). Significantly positive correlations were found between N and sexual abuse (SA), emotional neglect (EN), physical neglect (PN), and CTQ total (r=0.344-0.452, p<0.05); P and CTQ (r=0.336, p<0.05); and significant negative correlations between L and EN, CTQ (r=-0.446-0.375, p<0.05). EN contributed to a probability of N, P (R2=0.155-0.214, F=6.066-9.010, p=0.005-0.019) as well as a probability of L (R2=0.199, F=8.211, p=0.007). Conclusion: CT was associated with N, P and L, with a closer relation to N in unaffected FDR. Besides, the type of CT, the most relevant to N, was discovered to be EN. Thus, FDR of MDD who experienced CT should be prioritized. Key words: childhood trauma; personality; major depressive disorder; first-degree relatives

The present study attempts to study the relationship between internet addiction and internet social behaviour with personality. The sample consisted of 365 Grade 10 students from two secondary schools in Mainland China. Four instruments were used: Young’s Internet Addiction Test, Chen Internet Addiction Scale, Ma, Li & Pow’s Adolescent Internet Use Questionnaire, and Eysenck Personality Questionnaire. Boys scored significantly higher than girls in the two Internet addiction questionnaires. Results also supported the following hypotheses: (1) Internet addiction is positively associated with psychoticism, neuroticism, and frequency of Internet use; and it is also negatively associated with social desirability and self-concept. (2) Holistic Internet social behavior is positively associated with extroversion, social desirability, self-concept, and frequency of Internet use; and it is also negatively associated with psychoticism and neuroticism. A high (low) rating of Holistic Internet Social Behavior refers to a high (low) rating of Prosocial Internet Behaviour and a low (high) rating of Antisocial Internet Behaviour.
