PurposeDrawing on social capital theory, we extend the concept of supply chain capital to examine whether structural and relational capital can strengthen the complementary capabilities of suppliers and enhance their performance.Design/methodology/approachThe empirical study was conducted on 161 precision mold equipment suppliers. To evaluate the mediated moderation model of supply chain capital, we applied multiple linear regression to test our hypotheses.FindingsWe found that both structural and relational capital positively affect the complementary capabilities of suppliers and that these capabilities mediate the relationship between supply chain capital and supplier performance. Furthermore, structural capital positively and significantly moderates the mediating effect on the relationship between complementary capabilities and supplier performance.Research limitations/implicationsThis study provides suggestions for suppliers that are equipped with sufficient structural and relational capital to effectively enhance their complementary capabilities. By considering the interaction between structural capital and complementary capabilities, suppliers can effectively improve their performance.Originality/valueThis novel research develops a theoretical model to examine the antecedents and consequences of supplier complementary capabilities. We contribute to a new line of research on supply chain capital, which aims to explore how it affects the complementary capabilities of suppliers by examining a practical supply chain activity setting.

Purpose To date, country-of-origin research has commonly explored structural relationships among country image (CI) constructs, together with attitudinal constructs, using a variety of halo, summary construct and flexible models, drawing on consumer samples. There has been no previous attempt to examine or synthesize these three models with respect to business-to-business (B2B) buying behavior. To fill this gap, this study reconceptualized these three models with B2B constructs using multi-cue settings and tested on B2B samples. This study aims to examine and estimate the relative impact of company- and country-specific images on B2B buyers’ evaluations of suppliers, and the direction of structural relationships with mediation among the constructs. Design/methodology/approach Data collection was administered through a web-based structured questionnaire. The final sample consisted of 276 purchasing managers. Structural equation modeling was used to test the study’s hypotheses. Findings Company image is significantly influenced by product country image (PCI) but not by overall CI. The existence of a significant relationship between PCI and perceived supplier performance in a multi-cue setting is an important new finding. In addition, company image significantly influences supplier performance and mediates the relationship between PCI and supplier performance. Among the three models that test structural relationships among CI and other constructs, the reconceptualized halo model fits the data best. Practical implications The study results revealed the contribution of company and country-related facets on B2B buyers’ perceptions of supplier performance while purchasing intermediate goods internationally. The significance of PCI on supplier performance emphasizes the strength of the industry sector within a country that may enable an industry to build a product-specific CI in international marketing. Originality/value This study advances the country-of-origin issue and debate concerning the strength of the country influence in the academic literature by addressing B2B buyers’ international purchasing behavior of intermediate goods. Additionally, the examination of multiple country facets, multi-cue settings and the CI influence structure in a single study, from a B2B perspective, offers a novel dimension to CI studies.

Sustainable supplier selection during tender is one of the critical factors in the supply chain management to maintain sustainable procurement in an organisation. Many factors contribute to the success of sustainable supplier selection practices, and ethical culture is one of the factors because it would influence supplier selection. This study aims to determine the effect of implementing sustainable supplier selection on supplier performance by moderating the effect of ethical culture in the mining industry. This type of research is explanatory research with hypothesis testing of 104 respondents by distributing questionnaires. The data analysis is conducted by Structural Equation Model (SEM). The research shows that the construct of sustainable supplier selection with economic, social, and environmental aspects as dimensions has a direct and significant impact on supplier performance in the mining industry. This research also shows that ethical culture has a significant moderating effect in the relationship between sustainable supplier selection and supplier performance. The managerial implication of this research is providing guideline for decision-makers to implement sustainable supplier selection by considering economic, social, and environmental aspects while maintaining an ethical culture as a part of work professionalism to maintain sustainable performance in the mining industry.

The purpose of this research is to develop a performance appraisal method to get the priority order of four restaurant beef suppliers based on the weight of the selection criteria and by showing the indicators of each criterion, using the Vendor Performance Index and the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. There are seven main criteria for assessing supplier performance, namely quality, cost, delivery, flexibility, responsiveness, solutions, and relationships which are then translated into thirty-eight sub criteria or indicators. With the AHP method, weights obtained from the seven criteria in the order of quality (0.371), cost (0.256), delivery (0.101), solution (0.078), flexibility (0.070), responsiveness (0.069), and relationship (0.055). The results of supplier selection based on the AHP method obtained the weight in the order of priority of suppliers, namely PT Sukanda Djaya (0.377). PT Indoguna Utama (0.349). Santosa Agrindo (0.146), and Amino Meat (0.128).

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is twofold. First, it intends to explore the link between internal social capital, logistics capabilities, supply chain risk management (SCRM) capabilities and supplier performance. Second, the mediating effect of logistics capabilities between internal social capital and SCRM capabilities, and that of SCRM capabilities between logistics capabilities and supplier performance are also examined.Design/methodology/approachA theoretical model developed from the extant literature was empirically validated through a cross-sectional survey of 122 respondents in 52 public healthcare facilities in Uganda. The data were analysed using partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM).FindingsThe study found that internal social capital and SCRM capabilities are significant predictors of supplier performance. Internal social capital is positively and significantly related to logistics capabilities, and logistics capabilities are positively and significantly related to SCRM capabilities. The authors also found non-significant relationships between internal social capital and SCRM capabilities, and between logistics capabilities and supplier performance. Furthermore, it was revealed that logistics capabilities play a partial mediating role in the relationship between internal social capital and SCRM capabilities, while SCRM capabilities fully mediate between logistics capabilities and supplier performance.Originality/valueFurther to providing empirical evidence of the antecedents of supplier performance in the public healthcare in a developing economy, which has been evidently scant, this study provides initial empirical evidence of the mediating role of logistics capabilities in the relationship between internal social capital and SCRM capabilities and that of SCRM capabilities in the relationship between logistics capabilities and supplier performance. This is important for understanding the mechanism through which supplier performance can be enhanced.

This study aims to determine the best criteria on which to base the selection of alternative Chemical Boilout suppliers for Paper Machine # 6 dissection and to determine the best supplier to be selected for the Chemical Boilout supplier. The benefit of this research is to improve the consistency of run-ability by reducing the lost time sheet break and paper rejects. The method used is data processing using AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) and data collection by means of observation, interviews and questionnaires. The results of this study indicate the criteria for supplier selection, namely quality, price, supplier performance and guarantee of product claims. Then produce a weight for each alternative supplier, in order, namely kemira supplier with a weight of 30.627%, buckman with a weight of 29.973%, solenis with a weight of 21.608% and amazone with a weight of 17.792%. therefore for the best supplier and will be recommended to be selected in the upcoming tender process is the supplier Kemira.
