Hydration of cement with and without fly ash is studied with Mössbauer spectroscopy, XRD, and thermal analysis. Iron in cement is present as Fe3+-ions and occupies two octahedral positions, with close isomer shifts and quadrupole splittings. Iron in fly ash is present as Fe2+and Fe3+, and the Mössbauer spectra display three doublets—two for Fe3+in octahedral coordination and one for Fe2+. A third doublet was registered in the hydrating plain cement pastes after the 5th day, due to Fe3+in tetrahedral coordination in the structure of the newly formed monosulphate aluminate. In cement pastes with fly ash, the doublet of tetrahedral iron is formed earlier because the quantity of ettringite and portlandite is low and more monosulphate crystallizes. No Fe(OH)3phase forms during hydration of C4AF. The fly ash displays pozzolanic properties, which lead to lowering of the portlandite quantity in the cement mixtures and increasing of the high temperature products.

Novel Zn (II) phthalocyanine and naphthalocyanine DBU complexes have been prepared in a one-pot synthesis reacting phthalonitrile precursors with an excess of DBU (1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undec-7-ene). For the first time, it has been well evidenced that DBU played the role of coordinating axial ligand together with the well known role of strong base. Also, DBU complexes showed better solubility in organic solvents due to the coordination of the bulky axial DBU ligand, compared to the Zn (II) phthalocyanines and naphthalocyanines without coordinated DBU. The coordinating properties of DBU toward ZnPcs (DBU free) complexes have also been investigated along with the ZnPc (pyridine) complex. Thermal analysis results reflecting the stability of the synthesized complexes under air are also presented.

The IR spectroscopy and complex thermal analysis were used to analyze the adsorption capacity of Transcarpathian clinoptilolite, both naturally occurring and activated, relative to water vapor. It was found that activation of clinoptilolite with an H2SO4 25 %-solution causes dealumination and the appearance of additional adsorption centers, allowing maximum adsorption of water vapor. Activation with a 5 % solution of HCl at the 1:10 solid-liquid ratio ensures the significant dealumination of the mineral with no breakdown of its structure and the occurrence of transient pores and macropores in this mineral. Due to such activation clinoptilolite is far more able to absorb molecules of the green dye.

The macro- and microstructure is investigated by microscopic analysis methods. The elemental, granulo-metric and mineralogical composition of diatomite of the Chernoyarskoe deposit is determined. As a result of complex thermal analysis, using a differential scanning calorimeter, intervals of continuous dehydration of diatomite were studied, as well as polymorphic transformations of quartz and other minerals. Physical-chemical methods of research have discovered that diatomite of the Chernoyarskoe deposit contains amorphous silica, quartzite, clay impurities, opal and minor amounts of calcite, mica, zeolite, and so this diatomite is a promising raw material for the synthesis of foam glass.

Abstract This paper presents results of theoretical and experimental research on skew rolling process of balls with diameter ;30 mm in multiple helical tools. Numerical analysis of the process was conducted basing on finite element method (FEM), using the commercial software Simufact Forming in version 10.0. Simulations were made in the three-dimensional state of strain with consideration of complex thermal analysis, due to which progression of the products shape was determined. Distributions of strains and temperatures as well as the process force parameters were also determined. The results of numerical calculations were experimentally verified in laboratory conditions. The obtained results confirmed the possibility of semi-finished products of balls type manufacturing by means of rolling in multiple helical impressions.
