OBJECTIVE: This report aimed to present a case of functional and aesthetic rehabilitation of anterior maxillary region through dentogingival prosthesis in a patient with high smile line.CASE DESCRIPTION: Patient female, 65 years old, had aesthetic complaints related to fixed partial denture from upper left canine to upper right lateral incisor. The patient reported loss of upper central incisors due to periodontal disease progression. Clinical and radiographic examination showed marginal leakage, discrepancy in teeth proportion, dental inclination and alignment, and excessive prolongation of the cervical-incisal direction, plus a resorbed alveolar ridge, in both volume and height, in the described area. Faced with these conditions, it was decided to perform a fixed partial dentogingival denture, restoring harmony and smile functionality.CONCLUSION: After a 1-year follow up, maintenance of functional and aesthetic aspects of the prosthesis was observed.

When restoring a partially edentulous arch with an implant-supported fixed partial denture, the optimal fit and function of the final restoration depend on the fabrication of an accurate impression and the registration of the interocclusal relationship. The present case report presents a method for the fabrication of impressions and the registration of the interocclusal relationship for implant-supported partial dentures. The described method allows the accurate transfer of the implant position and the registration of the interocclusal relationship using transfer key and electroformed gold copings. The key and copings were used to transfer the intraoral implant position to the cast, to position the abutments intraorally, and to facilitate the fabrication of the final partial denture.

Progressive carious and inflammatory involvement of teeth if left untreated will ultimately lead the loss of tooth structure in the oral cavity. Earlier clinician was left with no option but extraction of such hopeless teeth followed by replacement with fixed partial denture, removable partial denture or implants. Hemisection is a removal of compromised root and the associated crown portion. It is one of the treatment options for preserving remaining part of molar having sound periodontium. This case report presents a patient in which distal half of the teeth was carious but with sound periodontium and the periodontally compromised mesial root was resected, and after healing, fixed dental prosthesis was delivered to restore proper form and function

INTRODUCTION: Novel concept known as tissue engineering is for the betterment of human. The use of much advanced molecular science and cell biology in processing the tissues to regenerate even after the loss of inborn tendency of pluripotent cells to multiply is possible by this new therapy. CONTENT: Periodontal tissue regeneration in both height and function is attributed to a complete recovery of the periodontal structures, that is, the formation of alveolar bone, a new connective attachment through collagen fibers as well as functionally oriented on the newly formed cementum is regeneration. Cell based therapies including tissue regeneration is an alternative approach for the regeneration of tissues damaged by disease or trauma. SUMMARY: Though tissue engineering requires the fundamentals of all the three keys namely genomics, proteomics and biometrics to give the solutions to biological problems appearing in dentistry as well as medical sciences.

This study was performed as an adjunct to an existing clinical study to validate the effect of veneer: framework thickness ratio on stress distribution in an implant-supported all-ceramic fixed partial denture. Two commercially available titanium dental implants with corresponding customized abutments and a patient-retrieved all-ceramic fixed partial denture were scanned using a high-resolution micro-CT scanner. Reconstructed 3D objects, along with a simulated bone surface, were incorporated into a non-manifold assembly and meshed simultaneously using Simpleware software (Synopsys Simpleware ScanIP Version P-2019.09; Mountain View, CA). Three such volume meshes (Model A, Model B, Model C) corresponding to veneer: framework thickness ratios of 3:1, 1:1, and 1:3 respectively were created, and exported to a finite element analysis software (ABAQUS). An axial load of 110 N was applied uniformly on the occlusal surfaces to calculate the static stresses and contour plots were generated in the post-processing module. From the data obtained, we observed optimum stress distribution in Model B. Also, the tensile stresses were concentrated in the posterior connector region of the prosthesis in all three models tested. Within the limitations of this study, we can conclude that equal thickness of veneer and framework layers would aid in better stress distribution.
