The article discusses the outcomes of the researches of zoo/plankton of various type nuclear power plants cooling pools located in different in terms of hyd ro g r aph ic c h a r ac t e r i s t ic s a nd z o opl a n k t on s t r uc t u re c at c h ment b a s i n s . I n Kop or ye B ay, a part of the Bay of Finland water area, discharge of warmed waters of Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant caused the decrease of plankton invertebrates’ quantitative indicators. In the Beloyarsk Nuclear Power Plant cooling pool warming in the most cases was favorable for the zooplankton abundance and biomass increase. In both researched reser voirs the warm water discharge resulted in the decrease of the total species number in the communities. The Neman River (the Baltic Nuclear Power Plant designed receiver for waste waters) in the period of the research was not affected by the nuclear plant impact. As a whole, for this water course water area ma ximal values of zooplankton abundance and biomass have been registered during spring periods while their decrease has been observed in summer and autumn. The most degree of trophity was noted near towns of Grodno, Kaunas, Yurbarkas and Neman.

This paper investigates how knowledge is constructed collaboratively in a crowd-sourced environment. More specifically, the study presented in this paper empirically analyzes online discussions in regard to Wikipedia entries on the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant Disaster that occurred in March 2011 in Japan. For this study, we examined the encyclopedia articles in both the English and Japanese versions of Wikipedia. The findings indicate similarities and differences between the two language versions. The implications of the study for collaborative knowledge production are also discussed.

As the backup systems of RPS (reactor protection system), Diverse Actuation System and ATWS( Anticipated transients without scram) mitigation system are diversely designed from RPS system so as to offer protection for the normal operation of nuclear power plant. Both of the systems bear the function of mitigating the anticipated transients without scram events. Being isolated from RPS system, the design of DAS and ATWS system meeting the requirement of diversity and influences of CCFs (common cause failure) are effectively prevented. This article mainly analyzed the structure and function of the two systems and the similarities and differences between them.

Prognosis of environmental quality in Baltic states related with the closure of Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant according to two electricity production scenarios was made. (Scenario 1 - closure date of Block 1 is 2005, closure date of Block 2 is 2011; Scenario 2 - closure date of Block 1 is 2005, exploitation of Block 2 will be extended at least until 2020.) We can see that in accordance with both scenarios CO2 an SO2 emission will increase every year. Although the influence of the largest air pollution sources such as Estonian/Baltic PP, Lithuanian PP Riga CHP and others remains very significant to the situation in Baltic States, new power plants will forward the rise of total emission.
