The paper assesses the effectiveness of uniaxial and cold isostatic consolidation methods of medium size ceramic granular press-powders. The results of fractographic studies of raw compacts were obtained with different methods of forming. The estimation of the physical properties of raw compacts and sintered ceramic samples was done. The results of measurement of the bending strength of the ceramic material are shown. It has been established that the application of isostatic forming, compared with axial allows increasing the flexural strength of the ceramic material is more than 35% due to creating denser structure and enhancing adhesion between the granules under otherwise equal technological conditions

Dimension stone industry produces a great amount of effluents, about 200,000 ton/year per solid residue. Espírito Santo State has about 600 companies, and their average consume per industry is around are 10,000 l/ day of water. Those rejects are displaced in decant lagoons, and landfill. In this work was used material provided by marble & granite industry from Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, ES. Those residues were characterized by chemical and mineral composition, physical properties, sintering process, and point load test. The results provided from physical indices and sintering material were compared with the results of commercial granite named in Industry as "granito rosa bavena". Analysis allowed us to get a conclusion about the reject. These analyses showed that reject could be used as a source for ceramic material, with the possibility of choosing for a greater or lower resistance.

The large choice of ceramic materials for an indirect restoration has given clinicians a dilemma when choosing a suitable ceramic for restorations in anterior or posterior teeth. Focusing principally on the most commonly used materials, lithium disilicate and zirconia, the aim of Part 1 of this article is to compare the mechanical properties and aesthetics of these two materials. For strength, zirconia possesses superior physical properties when compared with lithium disilicate. However, in terms of aesthetics, lithium disilicate holds advantages. With both materials having different microstructures, the same cementation protocols cannot be used. Other contemporary ceramic materials are briefly reviewed. Part 2 reviews the latest clinical research on their clinical performance. CPD/Clinical Relevance: Awareness of which ceramic material performs optimally on anterior and posterior teeth is clinically important.

The effective utilization of lignin waste has been a main concern in the bio-ethanol industry which uses straw and stalks as feedstock. In this study the lignin waste was incorporated into high density polyethylene (HDPE) to make composites by extruded pellet fabrication and thermoform process. With the increasing of the lignin content from 55% to 75%, the static flexural strength of the resulting blends was hardly influenced, but the tensile strength decreased 42%. The mechanical and dimensional stability tests both showed that the addition of 4% MAPE promoted the interfacial bonding between lignin and HDPE. The DSC analysis showed the presence of lignin scarcely influences the thermal behavior of pure HDPE and the composites.
