Female sexual dysfunction has always had challenges related to nosological issues due to inadequate research and understanding in this area. The ICD-11 has proposed substantial changes to the classification of conditions related to sexual health. In this review, we have discussed the proposed changes, compared with other classificatory systems and discussed its implications on clinical practice and research in this field. While there have been several progressive moves in the taxonomy of sexual dysfunctions, we have expressed our views on possible changes which can help with better diagnosis and management of sexual problems in women.

Female sexual dysfunction (FSD) is understudied and unexplored in clinical practice. There is a need for psychiatrists to acknowledge the same and explore this symptom in patients with schizophrenia. The following article is a clinical review that looks at various facets of FSD in relation to schizophrenia. The various types of FSD seen in schizophrenia are elaborated and factors that affect the same are discussed. The role of various factors and antipsychotic-induced FSD is also discussed. The role of estrogens in women with schizophrenia from a clinical and sexual perspective, the role of oral contraceptives in schizophrenia, schizophrenia and pregnancy related complications along with menopause, and its effect on schizophrenia and sexual function in these patients are discussed. The neurobiology of FSD is explored briefly along with the role of female sexuality in recovery and enhancing outcome in schizophrenia is also elaborated. The victimization of female patients with schizophrenia and future research needs in FSD in schizophrenia are laid out.

A normal sex life is an important part of life and relationships. Diabetes mellitus (DM) is an important cause of sexual dysfunction both in men and women. This problem is more difficult to diagnose and treat in women than in men because of the intricacy of the female sexual response. Also, the literature is limited addressing female sexual dysfunction (FSD) in DM, and this aspect of female health, is often ignored in clinical practice in women with DM. Early screening, diagnosis, and appropriate counseling are the cornerstone for managing FSD in women with DM. The current review aims to update the scenario of prevailing sexual dysfunction faced by the women with diabetes, their etiology, diagnostic approaches, and its management.

In recent years, outstanding progress has been made in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiomyopathies. Genetics is emerging as a primary point in the diagnosis and management of these diseases. However, molecular genetic analyses are not yet included in routine clinical practice, mainly because of their elevated costs and execution time. A patient-based and patient-oriented clinical approach, coupled with new imaging techniques such as cardiac magnetic resonance, can be of great help in selecting patients for molecular genetic analysis and is crucial for a better characterisation of these diseases. This article will specifically address clinical, magnetic resonance and genetic aspects of the diagnosis and management of cardiomyopathies.
