AbstractNew vector-like quarks are predicted in many new physics scenarios beyond the Standard Model (SM). Based on a model-independent framework, we investigate the prospect of discovering the SU(2) singlet vector-like bottom quark (VLQ-B) in $$e^{+}e^{-}$$ e + e - collisions at 3 TeV Compact Linear Collider. We study the single VLQ-B production process $$e^{-}e^{+}\rightarrow B{\bar{b}}\rightarrow Zb{\bar{b}}$$ e - e + → B b ¯ → Z b b ¯ with two types of decay channel: $$Z\rightarrow \ell ^{+}\ell ^{-}$$ Z → ℓ + ℓ - , and $$Z\rightarrow \nu {\bar{\nu }}$$ Z → ν ν ¯ . By carrying out a full simulation for the signals and the relevant SM backgrounds, the $$2\sigma $$ 2 σ exclusion limit and $$5\sigma $$ 5 σ discovery prospects are, respectively, obtained on the B quark mass and the coupling strength $$g^{*}$$ g ∗ with the integrated luminosity of 5 $$\hbox {ab}^{-1}$$ ab - 1 . Our numerical results show that the possible signals of the singlet VLQ-B might be detected at the future high-energy $$e^{+}e^{-}$$ e + e - linear colliders.

Abstract We compute the Darwin operator contribution ($$ 1/{m}_b^3 $$ 1 / m b 3 correction) to the width of the inclusive non-leptonic decay of a B meson (B+, Bd or Bs), stemming from the quark flavour-changing transition b → $$ {q}_1{\overline{q}}_2{q}_3 $$ q 1 q ¯ 2 q 3 , where q1, q2 = u, c and q3 = d, s. The key ideas of the computation are the local expansion of the quark propagator in the external gluon field including terms with a covariant derivative of the gluon field strength tensor and the standard technique of the Heavy Quark Expansion (HQE). We confirm the previously known expressions of the $$ 1/{m}_b^3 $$ 1 / m b 3 contributions to the semi-leptonic decay b → $$ {q}_1\mathrm{\ell}{\overline{\nu}}_{\mathrm{\ell}} $$ q 1 ℓ ν ¯ ℓ , with ℓ = e, μ, τ and of the $$ 1/{m}_b^2 $$ 1 / m b 2 contributions to the non-leptonic modes. We find that this new term can give a sizeable correction of about −4 % to the non-leptonic decay width of a B meson. For Bd and Bs mesons this turns out to be the dominant correction to the free b-quark decay, while for the B+ meson the Darwin term gives the second most important correction — roughly 1/2 to 1/3 of the phase space enhanced Pauli interference contribution. Due to the tiny experimental uncertainties in lifetime measurements the incorporation of the Darwin term contribution is crucial for precision tests of the Standard Model.

Abstract Background The translocator protein 18 kDa is recognised as an important biomarker for neuroinflammation due to its soaring expression in microglia. This process is common for various neurological disorders. DPA-714 is a potent TSPO-specific ligand which found its use in Positron Emission Tomography following substitution of fluorine-19 with fluorine-18, a positron-emitting radionuclide. [18F]DPA-714 enables visualisation of inflammatory processes in vivo non-invasively. Radiolabelling of this tracer is well described in literature, including validation for clinical use. Here, we report significant enhancements to the process which resulted in the design of a fully GMP-compliant robust synthesis of [18F]DPA-714 on a popular cassette-based system, Trasis AllinOne, boosting reliability, throughput, and introducing a significant degree of simplicity. Results [18F]DPA-714 was synthesised using the classic nucleophilic aliphatic substitution on a good leaving group, tosylate, with [18F]fluoride using tetraethylammonium bicarbonate in acetonitrile at 100∘C. The process was fully automated on a Trasis AllinOne synthesiser using an in-house designed cassette and sequence. With a relatively small precursor load of 4 mg, [18F]DPA-714 was obtained with consistently high radiochemical yields of 55-71% (n=6) and molar activities of 117-350 GBq/µmol at end of synthesis. With a single production batch, starting with 31-42 GBq of [18F]fluoride, between 13-20 GBq of the tracer can be produced, enabling multi-centre studies. Conclusion To the best of our knowledge, the process presented herein is the most efficient [18F]DPA-714 synthesis, with advantageous GMP compliance. The use of a Trasis AllinOne synthesiser increases reliability and allows rapid training of production staff.

Using the MILC 2+1 flavor asqtad quark action ensembles, we are calculating the form factors f0 and f+ for the semileptonic Bs → Kℓv decay. A total of six ensembles with lattice spacing from ≈ 0.12 to 0.06 fm are being used. At the coarsest and finest lattice spacings, the light quark mass m’l is one-tenth the strange quark mass m’s. At the intermediate lattice spacing, the ratio m’l/m’s ranges from 0.05 to 0.2. The valence b quark is treated using the Sheikholeslami-Wohlert Wilson-clover action with the Fermilab interpretation. The other valence quarks use the asqtad action. When combined with (future) measurements from the LHCb and Belle II experiments, these calculations will provide an alternate determination of the CKM matrix element |Vub|.

"Contract catering industry is concerned with the production of ready-to-eat meals for schools, hospitals and private companies. The structure of this market is highly competitive, and customers are rarely willing to pay a high price for this catering service. A single production sites may be demanded up to 10.000 meals per day and these operations can hardly be managed via rule of thumbs without any quantitative decision support tool. This situation is common at several stages of a food supply chain and the methodologies presented in this paper are addressed to any food batch production system with similar complexity and trade-offs. This paper proposes an original KPI dashboard, designed to control costs, time and quality efficiency and helping managers to identify criticalities. Special emphasis is given on food safety control which is the management’s main concern and must be carefully monitored in each stage of the production. To calculate the value of KPIs a Montecarlo simulation approach is used to deal with production complexity and uncertainty. A case study showcases the potential of simulation in this complex industrial field. The case study illustrates an application of the methodology on an Italian company suffering local recipe contamination. The company aims at defining the best standard for production, identifying cycles being sustainable from an economic and environmental point of view."
