Abstract This paper addresses the fusion of the pseudorange/pseudorange rate observations from the global navigation satellite system and the inertial–visual simultaneous localisation and mapping (SLAM) to achieve reliable navigation of unmanned aerial vehicles. This work extends the previous work on a simulation-based study [Kim et al. (2017). Compressed fusion of GNSS and inertial navigation with simultaneous localisation and mapping. IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Magazine, 32(8), 22–36] to a real-flight dataset collected from a fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicle platform. The dataset consists of measurements from visual landmarks, an inertial measurement unit, and pseudorange and pseudorange rates. We propose a novel all-source navigation filter, termed a compressed pseudo-SLAM, which can seamlessly integrate all available information in a computationally efficient way. In this framework, a local map is dynamically defined around the vehicle, updating the vehicle and local landmark states within the region. A global map includes the rest of the landmarks and is updated at a much lower rate by accumulating (or compressing) the local-to-global correlation information within the filter. It will show that the horizontal navigation error is effectively constrained with one satellite vehicle and one landmark observation. The computational cost will be analysed, demonstrating the efficiency of the method.

This paper proposes a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image target recognition method using multiple views and inner correlation analysis. Due to the azimuth sensitivity of SAR images, the inner correlation between multiview images participating in recognition is not stable enough. To this end, the proposed method first clusters multiview SAR images based on image correlation and nonlinear correlation information entropy (NCIE) in order to obtain multiple view sets with strong internal correlations. For each view set, the multitask sparse representation is used to reconstruct the SAR images in it to obtain high-precision reconstructions. Finally, the linear weighting method is used to fuse the reconstruction errors from different view sets and the target category is determined according to the fusion error. In the experiment, the tests are conducted based on the MSTAR dataset, and the results validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Modern machinery becomes more precious with the advance of science, and fault diagnosis is vital for avoiding economical losses or casualties. Among massive diagnosis methods, deep learning algorithms stand out to open an era of intelligent fault diagnosis. Deep residual networks are the state-of-the-art deep learning models which can continuously improve performance by deepening the network structures. However, in vibration-based fault diagnosis, the transient property instability of vibration signal usually calls for time–frequency analysis methods, and the characters of time–frequency matrices are distinct from standard images, which brings some natural limitations for the diagnosis performance of deep learning algorithms. To handle this issue, an enhanced deep residual network named the multilevel correlation stack-deep residual network is proposed in this article. Wavelet packet transform is used to preprocess the sensor signal, and then the proposed multilevel correlation stack-deep residual network uses kernels with different shapes to fully dig various kinds of useful information from any local regions of the processed input. Experiments on two rolling bearing datasets are carried out. Test results show that the multilevel correlation stack-deep residual network exhibits a more satisfactory classification performance than original deep residual networks and other similar methods, revealing significant potentials for realistic fault diagnosis applications.
