Thermal simulations are an important part of the design process in many engineering disciplines. In simulation-based design approaches, a considerable amount of time is spent by repeated simulations. An alternative, fast simulation tool would be a welcome addition to any automatized and simulation-based optimisation workflow. In this work, we present a proof-of-concept study of the application of convolutional neural networks to accelerate thermal simulations. We focus on the thermal aspect of electronic systems. The goal of such a tool is to provide accurate approximations of a full solution, in order to quickly select promising designs for more detailed investigations. Based on a training set of randomly generated circuits with corresponding finite element solutions, the full 3D steady-state temperature field is estimated using a fully convolutional neural network. A custom network architecture is proposed which captures the long-range correlations present in heat conduction problems. We test the network on a separate dataset and find that the mean relative error is around 2% and the typical evaluation time is 35 ms per sample ( 2 ms for evaluation, 33 ms for data transfer). The benefit of this neural-network-based approach is that, once training is completed, the network can be applied to any system within the design space spanned by the randomized training dataset (which includes different components, material properties, different positioning of components on a PCB, etc.).

This article is devoted to the study of the current topic - the importance of digital etiquette as an employee competence. The percentage of modern employee's communications in the online space is increasing, more and more work issues are solved using computer technology and electronic systems. This trend requires the development of a new digital culture of communication, which includes the rules that are necessary to build clear business relationships. In order to form a relevant, understandable and succinct set of recommendations, it is required to assess the current level of knowledge of digital etiquette. To do this, a survey was compiled that included questions defining human behavior in various situations that may arise during online business communications. Based on the survey with 120 respondents, recommendations on business etiquette topics were developed.

With the tremendous progress of Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, the demand for flexible and stretchable electronic systems is rapidly increasing. As the vital component of a system, existing computing units are usually rigid and brittle, which are incompatible with flexible and stretchable electronics. Emerging memristive devices with flexibility and stretchability as well as direct processing-in-memory ability are promising candidates to perform data computing in flexible and stretchable electronics. To execute the in-memory computing paradigm including digital and analogue computing, the array configuration of memristive devices is usually required. Herein, the recent progress on flexible and stretchable memristive arrays for in-memory computing is reviewed. The common materials used for flexible memristive arrays, including inorganic, organic and two-dimensional (2D) materials, will be highlighted, and effective strategies used for stretchable memristive arrays, including material innovation and structural design, will be discussed in detail. The current challenges and future perspectives of the in-memory computing utilizing flexible and stretchable memristive arrays are presented. These efforts aim to accelerate the development of flexible and stretchable memristive arrays for data computing in advanced intelligent systems, such as electronic skin, soft robotics, and wearable devices.

In any electrical or electronic systems, unwanted signals known as noise signals are encountered which interact with the true signal and thus affecting signal quality. Noise may enter into a device or system in many forms and have a different order of impacts. Prevention and elimination of noise had attained paramount importance to ensure signal fidelity. This chapter presents a comprehensive analysis on elimination of noise by electronic grounding of instrumentation and automation systems as well as various engineering considerations for the same.

After the COVID-19 outbreak, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Education transformed the education system from traditional learning to distance learning (DL). The aim of this study is to share the Saudi experience including plans, policies, and programs regarding the use of DL for students at various levels of education. This is the pioneer study from Saudi Arabia, which evaluates DL impact on special students and provides recommendations for such students regarding DL. The Saudi Ministry of Education released one of the most powerful and diverse electronic systems with fully interactive technology options through the following platforms: Madrasati School, the IEN National Education Portal, IEN educational television, and virtual kindergarten. The same platforms are accessible for students with disabilities and we have found that such students can equally benefit from them with some modifications. These modifications are on the individual needs of special students. This article presents the details of various tools and programs available for DL to students in Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, we have analyzed the suitability of these programs for special students in our discussion. Finally, we have made our recommendation and provided future directions to improve the DL experience for students with disabilities.

Abstract: Automotive systems are getting more responsive and giving feedback to the driver and passengers with the help of electronic systems ensuring safety. As seen the growth towards electric mobility engineers are more indulged in electronic systems and presenting innovative ideas for future developments. The presented simulation model of an electronic system combines the engine coolant temperature sensor, oxygen sensor, and seat belt warning system. The system is proposed using TINKERCAD software and the software is designed through Arduino. The driver will be able to see the temperature of the coolant and also can find out whether the air and the fuel mixture is rich or lean as well as be alerted for wearing a seatbelt. Keywords: Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor, Oxygen Sensor, Seat Belt Warning System, Electronics System for Vehicle, Arduino, Software Design using Arduino, Passive Safety System.
